Then what would they release at SHOT?

For the love of god, stop bolting the CAR/M4 style collapsing stock to everything

    Why?
    A) Because this is America, and they Can.

    B) Because this is America, and People have the Right to Buy Stuff. It’s called Capitalism.

    C) Because this is America, and there’s a Sucker born every Minute.

    D) Because this is America, and nobody is Forced to put on one of those stocks, so if you don’t want one, don’t put it on your Weapon.

    E) All of the Above.

  2. DirtCrashr Says:

#C) – And because this is Americas and the Aesthetic Movement is over – and they were a bunch of Euro-Fops anyhow, we championed Streamline Moderne, baby!

  3. HL Says:

I thought it was a fine post.

  4. Laughingdog Says:

I thought part of the purpose of a telescoping stock on a rifle was so people of various heights could use the same rifle.

  5. Les Jones Says:

LD: true, and sometimes the M4 stock really is better than what it’s replacing. Some people want a folding stock and some people want an adjustable stock. That guy assumes everybody wants the former. Still pretty funny, though, especially the monkey fucking a football part.

The place where that guy nailed it was the MP5 stock. The original was way better than the M4 stock – more adjustable and way more collapsible.

  6. Mr Evilwrench Says:

Trouble on the M4 is you can get the recoil buffer tube only so short and still be able to cycle.

  7. Sigivald Says:

    What a whiner.

Laughingdog nails the reason for an adjustable rather than folding stock; it’s solving different problems.

That and in actual military use they want to allow for body armor adjustment.

(For civilians, do what you want.

Most of my rifles have fixed stocks. Only one of my ARs has a collapsible, and only my 10-22 has a folder.

Though when I eventually get around to an AK, it’ll be an underfolder.)

  8. Knitebane Says:

I put Magpul CTR + buffer tube adapter on my AK platform guns because the ergonomics of the standard AK stock suck.

The standard stock is too short, too thin and too low with no option of any kind of adjustment. And while a folding stock option exists it’s a tiny wire coathanger. That sucks even more.

When someone makes a quality ergonomic stock for the AK I’ll use that instead. Magpul, are you listening?

I’d like to have a collapsible stock on my FAL too and the M4-type stock would be perfect for that application as the FAL has the recoil spring in the stock too but no one makes that as far as I know.

  9. HiddenHills Says:

another slug here. CTR on a Kel-Tec SU-16

  10. Jamie Says:

What a raging jackass. How the hell can someone putting a collapsable stock on (insert firearm here) make a person go that berserk? The guy sounds about as stable as a broken ankle.

  11. HL Says:

Who would have guessed that so many of Unc’s readers had M4 stocks on non-M4’s?

  12. TomcatTCH Says:

I have a folding stock on my PTR-32., I replaced a fixed G3 stock with it. I’m thinking about getting a buffer tube stock mount just for the adjustments sake.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
