Drug checkpoints in Michigan:

Motorists driving on expressways around Flint are getting surprised by a stunning tactic that the Genesee County sheriff has been using to fight the flow of illegal drugs — one that legal experts said will not withstand a court challenge.

Emphasis mine. Despite its illegality, they do it because there is no consequence to them personally for it. Taxpayers will foot that bill.

This is why HB45 was such a success here in Florida. The instant we made politicians and bureaucrats personally responsible for their actions, the illegal stuff stopped dead in its tracks.

Of course, we have counties trying to claim they’re above the law but that’s ok. The lawsuits are kind of fun.

It’s time for the citizenry to demand their representatives be held to the law as well.

You must have missed the curtain licensing article a bit back…

As bad as things might be if you could pick up a packet of Heroin or what-have-you at the local drug store with nothing more than an ID to show you are an adult, I can’t imagine it would be worse than the horrors of the “War on Drugs” is now.

    Heh.

I drove through that area on a highway a couple of times in the past two weeks, and I didn’t encounter a drug stop. On the other hand, they aren’t all-the-time operations, so that explains it.

On the other hand, I’m trying to figure out why they would deem Flint an important conduit for drugs. From my knowledge of the State, it would seem to be an important end-point for drugs. That is, I would expect that drugs would be smuggled to Flint rather than through Flint.

Unless some of the drugs are en route to Canada, and the smugglers are running through the Port Huron crossing rather than the Detroit crossing(s).

I agree, this is an infringement of rights. And a pretty bad one at that.

Maybe this sheriff should go to tennessee and work as and adviser to the governor…

I haven’t seen any cops personally held liable for it, so I don’t see it every really ending.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
