The best way to carry a gun while running is with a sling….

Just do a rifle run at port arms – it really help your workout and you absolutely won’t get mugged.

I generally carry my GE M134 Minigun in a backpack when I run. I have a waterproof cover that I keep zippered over it until I need it. It is good for fending off varmints and predators such as coyotes when I run. I also find it useful in protecting myself from muggers and rapists. In a pinch, it can defend against armed assault from opposing militias when I have been sent in over a border to rescue a crew from a downed helicopter. In may even conceivably be used to repel deliberate attacks by attacking military forces.

But I usually just use it to scare off neighborhood dogs when I am running.

I have a friend who wanted to carry a snubbie .357 while she ran. I just suggested she carry it with a similar weight in her other hand. Works great! But she also runs in the woods, so probably doesn’t get as many weird looks.

    I suggest Gunkid’s tactical wheelbarrow.

Best medicine for dog attacks is pepperspray … had to use some once on a loose neighborhood mutt. That dog would run away whenever I went by after that.

    Snakes? Just go around them.

My wife runs marathons. Jogs/trains with her LCP .380 or S&W Bodyguard for protection. Concealed.

Pls. note caption that states “Rick Perry fires a shooter pistol during a Texas Motor Speedway event.”
Should that be “six shooter” or “starter pistol”?
    Bad editing? Poor cropping?

I was surprised at how favorable the article was, and even thoughtful, as if suggesting it might just be a good idea….

It was a great article. Until you got to the comments, and all the crazy crawled out from under a rock.

I wonder if Rick Perry would do something about DC’s intransigence over the 2nd Amendment if he were one day the occupant of the White House…I guess most presidents rely on the Secret Service, but could the Commander-in-Chief legally carry concealed in DC? My guess would be “yes”, but only because of being Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces as POTUS.

I carry everywhere I go, except airports, sporting events where carry is prohibited, posted places (which I try to avoid) and when I run.

When I am running, the smallest item I affix to my body (pouch for money), Ipod, holster for water bottle, etc. seems like an anchor.

I am a pretty unattractive target (sweaty 54 year old male) for most types of crimes when I run, and not carrying is a decision I make.

The most popular place to run in Knoxville, other than on our greenways, is Cherokee Blvd., which is a municipal park.

I can legally carry if I walk on the street on Cherokee Blvd., but not if I walk on the walking/running path in the middle of the same street.

Also, most people around here have probably forgotten, but some rapes occurred on one of our most popular greenways (Third Creek, which runs parallel to Kingston Pike in the Sequoyah Hills area – actually n the Marble City side of Kingston Pike).

As it turned out, a recently released sex offender lived with his mother in a house which was virtually adjacent to the greenway.

It was a target rich environment to him.

A local hair dresser (gay) was beat up pretty badly by some drunk teenagers on the same bike trail.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
