No, really, I’m starting to like that guy

More from Texas Gov. Perry:

The measure, sent to Gov. Rick Perry for consideration, lets any incandescent light bulb manufactured in Texas – and sold in that state – avoid the authority of the federal government or the repeal of the 2007 energy independence act that starts phasing out some incandescent light bulbs next year.

But he did sign an executive order forcing all girls to get the HPV vaccine by Sixth Grade. Not sure how too freedom loving that is.

  2. that guy from KR Says:

Perry is terribly inconsistent. He pulled his support for campus carry, behind the scenes, and let that bill die — because he needed to retain his puppetmaster control over the UT and A&M boards of regents. He also made a bill requiring all women getting abortions to see a sonogram image of the unborn baby an “emergency legislative item” this past session — when the state had a $27B budget shortfall that was HIS fault in the first place. So the Lege had to cram that nauseating bit of Fundamentalist theocracy down our throats BEFORE dealing with the worst budget crisis the state has ever had.

Put down the Rick Perry Kool-aid. It’s candy-coated poison.

  3. Mr Evilwrench Says:

Yeah, he has pluses, he has minuses. Obama vs Perry. Which lever do you pull? May it not come to that, but still.

  4. Ron W Says:

Rick Perry has also pushed the TTC the “NAFTA super highway” to be built and owned by foreign corporations. That isn’t CONSERVATIVE of American and, more immportantly, Texas State sovereignity. Also NAFTA isn’t “free trade” its more government; international managed trade, which mandates things like Mexican trucks roaming U.S. Highways.

Perry is a politician. That means he’s a slippery son of a bitch. The important thing is that he’s our slippery son of a bitch.

He’s a politician. He’s his own slippery son of a bitch.

    @jake
    Agreed

  9. Name Redacted Says:

Actually of the candidates out right now, I like the 2 libertarians followed by Bachman the best.

  10. Ron W Says:

    Name Redacted,

To the extent that the “libertarians” are that because they are Constitutionalists, and view most things as being outside the “delegated powers” of the Federal Gov’t, I would agree. Some libertarians are almost anarchists, but even that is to be preferred over authoritarians….who, for instance, want to disarm us and then have hired guns impose their authority on us.

  11. MikeR Says:

Eh, in theory I like this, but it’s pure political theater. Nobody is going to open up a new incandescent light bulb manufacturing plant in Texas for distribution only in Texas. The plants that used to produce our light bulb supply are already shut down, employees laid off, and equipment being liquidated, so the bulbs are pretty much gone. Regardless of whether a state or even Congress decides to re-legalize them, the production lines are gone. Kinda like shutting down the F-22 production – once you stop it, it’s very hard to start producing them again, and you can pretty much count on the loss being final.

  12. Bubblehead Les Says:

Well, being a Politician, I betcha one of his cronies has a building just across the border where light bulbs are being made. So they’ll ship it a mile into Texas, put it into a carton that says “Made in Texas”, and reap the rewards.

  13. Ron W Says:

    Hey yeah, Bubblehead,

And as former TX Gov, Bush said as Prez re: illegal immigration in the 2004 sham Prez debate with an agreeing Kerry, “that’s why I like NAFTA so much.” It ‘ll create good jobs down there, so they won’t come here”..yeah, sure that continuing policy is sure workin’ ain’t it………NOT!

I liked Bachman too until she made it obvious that her loyalties fall to Israel first. I want my president to first and foremost concentrate on the recovery of the United States, and allow other nations to do as they may, But Bachman has made it clear where she stands.

Before anyone comes with the anti Semite comments just know I have family that are Jewish and an Aunt who survived a Nazi concentration camp who felt the U.S. should stay out of Israeli policy.

  15. hillbilly Says:

If Rick Perry gets into the race he would be, guaranteed, the only candidate with a CCW permit who has actually dispatched a marauding coyote with his CCW pistol.

  16. Stormy Dragon Says:

My opinion of him is kinda ruined by the fact he wants to throw me in jail for being gay.

  17. that guy from KR Says:

Perry is definitely a “gun guy” who has been seen around Austin many times at McBrides Guns, LaRue Tactical and other places. The R’s need a candidate that can win. As a native Texan it pains me to say it, but the country is simply not going to elect another Texan as president anytime soon. Between LBJ and W, our track record in that area is not so good.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
