Poll tax

Liston wrote a letter to the editor poll taxes and guns. Seems the KNS thinks that the state should provide a free ID card to those who cannot afford them so they can vote. Will the state also provide a free background check on gun purchases and waive carry permit fees on those who cannot afford them?

The question is, by whose authority (and whose definition of “can’t afford it”) will the means testing take place?

And why do THEY get the authority to decide who can afford and who cannot?

  2. mike w. Says:

    But, but, guns are different!!

  3. bob r Says:

No, the question is: What’s *afford* got to do with it?

There shouldn’t be a fee so *afford* shouldn’t even be an issue for discussion.

Guns are different. All citizens had the right to free speech and the keep and bear arms when the country was formed. Only land owners were allowed to vote.

So I guess voting wouldn’t be the “most fundamental constitutional right in a democracy”.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
