No background check required

The US is giving arms to Libya:

THE United States has paved the way for Libya’s rebel groups to be armed by the international community if air strikes to oust Muammar Gaddafi fail.

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton confirmed for the first time in London that the United Nations resolution did allow for the ”legitimate transfer of arms” to rebels if a nation chose to do so.

Maybe that will stop some from going into Mexico?

I guess if a war can be relabeled a “kinetic military action”, it makes sense that we can call gunrunning a ”legitimate transfer of arms”.

Poor IANSA. One of their hopes is that the UN arms control guys get implemented a ban on “arms transfers to non-state actors.” Now Hilary is arguing that the Security Council just authorized the exact opposite.

  2. mike w. Says:

We gave arms to Bin Laden and the Mujahdeen too. Somehow I see this turning out badly for us down the road…

  3. Paul B Says:

It will always be bad as not everyone at the table is telling the truth. They have motives we can only guess at. At least they will not be used to kill mexicans or dea agents.

It is going to get really interesting over there real fast.

What kind of “Arms” and who is going to pay for them? We don’t even know who the “Rebels” are. If I rode around with twin .50s in the back of my pickup truck, would I be a “Rebel”? Jack.

    Uncle,
Not sure how to contact you other than comments, thought you would enjoy this.
Iraqi woman claims her house was struck by US Soldiers bullets and she has proof. Apparently our forces are literally throwing rounds everywhere.

Surface-to-air missiles to Al Qaeda? What could possibly go wrong with that, as long as Hillary is in charge? After all, she’s a brand name politician, so she can do whatever she likes and nothing bad ever comes of it. The MSM says so.

  7. Paul Says:

I bet some of those shoulder fired stinger missles and such will end up in the hands of the terrorist.

So don’t be shocked when an airliner gets shot down over the EU or USA.

    that’s Hope and Change…

  8. JMosesB Says:

So it’s important that a population be armed in case their gov’t goes all tyrannical..? What a concept.

  9. hellferbreakfast Says:

There has to be another terrorist attack on U.S. soil to justify DHS budget & try to keep us in fear. Thus allowing more money for odumbos’ civilian army. Some of this ordnance will be smuggled back into the U.S.

  10. UpTheIrons Says:

I think this “legitimate transfer of arms” is fine as long as none of them have a “shoulder thing that goes up.” That way, we’ll know they’ll only be used for legitimate and peaceful purposes.

  11. Paul Says:

Hmmm “shoulder thing that goes up”. That sounds like just rifles and a bag of grenades.

Lots of luck Libyans! Cause we sure don’t trust you (and I don’t trust them!)

  12. Lyle Says:

Will they have magazines with more than 10 rounds capacity? Will they have full auto (bullet spray) capability, flash suppressors and black pistol grip stocks?

The takeaway of course is; Muslim Brotherhood striving for Caliphate = good. American Teaparty striving for liberty = terrorists.

  13. Paul B Says:

Need to carry that equation out. Tea Party = Terrorists = good

I mean if terrorist = caliphate = good then tea party equals good. Every thing equals good.

Where do you think that will end?

  14. Dave Says:

Well, agent Terry was killed with an American supplied weapon on this administrations watch courtesy of gunwalker. I guess it is par for the course that some of our helicopter crews in Iraq or Afghanistan might eventually get it from American supplied weaponry too.

  15. Ron W Says:

But recently, our government stopped the import of surplus M-1 rifles from Korea, originally sent there by our government, lest they “fall into the wrong hands” when allowed to be purchased by U.S. citizens!!!

And will these weapons be subject to the same laws that are imposed on U.S. citizens, for instance, no full-auto??

Does anyone get the idea that our own government treats us as the enemy??!!

  16. IllTemperedCur Says:

The thing is, no matter what kind of arms we/NATO give the rebels, most really won’t be of much use.

Shoulder-fired SAMs: NATO has air superiority, so they’re superfluous.

Tanks: It’ll take months to get them to Libya, and they’ll be of limited effectiveness because of the training required. However, Egypt could supply older SovBloc tanks from their stock relatively quickly. Reduces the lead-time and training requirements.

Artillery: Training to use the guns properly, and support equipment will be problematic.

Small arms: The rebels seem to fire more ammo into the air than in combat. No reason to think that they’ll change their tune if they get shiny new guns & ammo.

RPGs: THIS might work. Low training requirements, simple and robust, cheap. Can be used as short range artillery, when volley fired. Easily available in every unregulated arms market from Medellin to Mogadishu, so it’s not as if they aren’t available to terrorists already.

  17. Bubblehead Les Says:

Don’t worry about it. Everything will be flown in on Air America, and the NoSuchWar personnel will train the local tribesmen on how to lay Claymores and tell us when the North sends supplies down the Ho Chi Mihn Trail. If you think this is bit sarcastic, well, it might be if it was not for the fact that tonight, we found out Obama signed a “Secret Presidential Finding” WEEKS ago allowing the CIA to help the Rebels and Remove Ghaddafi from power. Hey kids, Guess What? Now you get the Chance to play Vietnam War just like your Granddad did! Pop Quiz: What’s your Draft Number? Don’t worry, you’ll soon find out, when you get that message posted on your Facebook page saying “Greetings. The Department of Defense has determined…” But no running away to Canada for You, no siree Bob, because the Canucks get to play also! And the Homeland Security People won’t let you leave without your Passport (No Open Borders for you!), so they’ll just catch all of you at the Check Points as you attempt to Exit to Toronto.

“In 5 days, we will begin to Fundamentally Transform America”. Guess Obama was honest about ONE thing.

  18. Cargosquid Says:

So….., if there are elements of Al Queda with the Libyan rebels, and we end up arming them…..and we’re still at war with them,…..is that aiding and abetting the enemy?

And since we attacked a country that did not attack us, was not threat, is not a “vital interest”, has no US citizens in danger, supposedly renounced terrorism, and renounced nukes……is that country now justified in responding against the belligerent countries?

  19. Ben G Says:

Contact your legislators now and tell them to CLOSE the kinetic-military-action loophole!

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
