Ammo For Sale

Reality! don’t talk about reality!

A deputy AG in Indiana was fired for saying that police should use live ammunition in dealing with protesters. This has people forgetting exactly how the police work and they are all butthurt over the comment. Roberta brings a gentle reminder:

Wake up and smell the reality: every time Officer Friendly deals with you in an official capacity, there’s live ammo involved; just because it doesn’t go “bang,” that doesn’t mean it isn’t in use.

Yes. It’s what they do. It’s their job. The AG’s comment was in poor taste due to his intent. But it is how the world works.

Oh come on, you know perfectly well that when people use the phrase “using live ammo on X”, they don’t mean just having live ammo available. When CNN is reporting that Kaddafi’s troops are using live ammo on protestors in Libya, it doesn’t mean they’re walking around taunting them with loaded magazines. Likewise, the deputy AG was clearly suggesting that he wanted the protestors shot.

That is why I am against a law that will prohibit collective bargaining. Such a law is in essence a ban of the right to assemble and petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Getting together with your coworkers as a “union” to ask your employer (who also happens to be the government) for a raise is constitutionally no different than banning together with your coinvestors as a “corporation” to ask that same government for a bailout or a contract to build military equipment.

Aspie AAG makes dumb comment on own time, gets fired. Alex Jones groupies blame Trilateral Commission.

The world may change, but the internet remains the same ol’ place. 😉

    Stormy Dragon,

I say I want hippies to die in a fire every day.

  5. Jeff Says:

He didn’t say live ammunition, he said live animation. Who can protest when Roger Rabbit is in the house?

  6. Stormy Dragon Says:

I say I want hippies to die in a fire every day.

And if you were fire marshall, it would be grounds for firing you as well. ;P

  7. Mr Evilwrench Says:

Even totally ending the collective bargaining in no way interferes with their ability to peaceably assemble and petition the government, whether their employer is the government or what. They can still do that. Just not quite the same way.

  8. Roberta X Says:

So, Stormy, ol’ thing: did I say it was wrong or bad that the Deputy AG got the axe? C’mon, point to it.

–I don’t think he really, truly wanted ’em dead, if you’d’a had him under oath and asked him about it, but I think his comments were tactless and indicated a lack of awareness of just what the wider responsibilities of being a highly-placed Gummint Something entailed. An Indiana state desk-filler doesn’t command cops in Wisconsin — but he otta be in command of his own tongue. If he can’t, time to try another job.

@Evilwrench: “So it a law banning books is acceptable, as long as it still allows magazines?”

Where have I heard that before?

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
