Judgmental

Once again, a Taurus Judge is used in a self defense shooting. This time, it kills someone. Unlike last time.

Also:

Kutchin grabbed his loaded handgun- a Taurus Judge- so named because judges carry this type of weapon in their courtrooms for self- defense.

Really? Sloppy reporting, all around. Even reference to ‘make my day’ law. Yes, because when a high robber points a gun at you, you’re feeling all Dirty Harry.

Not only sloppy reporting, but ungrammatical as well. When I was studying journalism, we had to learn all that pesky stuff about nominative and objective case, and gender, and stuff. I know, it doesn’t seem as important as the actual, you know, content and stuff, but between I and my friends, we usually got the story written.
Plus, the guy was a professional masseuse! I wonder, was he a tranny or just a cross-dresser?

  2. Paul Says:

Judges carry that type of weapon?

Well maybe they carry a handgun, but the ‘Judge’?

I kind of hoped it was named after the Hon. Judge Roy Bean!

  3. Ellen Says:

From Judge Roy Bean, we get Beanshooters.

I’ve never heard the castle doctrine referred to as the “make my day” law. It appears to be particular to Colorado. You have to love the anti-gunners assigning a Dirty Harry reference to a law that shields you when you protect yourself in your own home.

It’s like calling Obamacare the “crushing debt and death panel establishment” law. Oh. Wait.

  5. Paul Says:

The “make my day law’ is really the ‘stand your ground law’ were you don’t have to retreat outside the home IF you were legaly there to begin with AND you did not provoke the incident. The Casle Doctrine is a whole different thing relating to INSIDE your house.

Yes the media as no clue about the differece.

  6. PT Says:

So this leads us to the natural question; what type of person carries the Raging Judge?

    Angry judges?

    From http://www.jerrykopel.com/c/make-my-day-change.htm

The final version of “Make My Day” became CRS 18-2-704.5:

    (1) The general assembly hereby recognizes that the citizens of Colorado have a right to expect absolute safety within their own homes.

    (2) Notwithstanding the provisions of section 18-1-704, any occupant of a dwelling is justified in using any degree of physical force, including deadly physical force, against another person when that other person has made an unlawful entry into a dwelling, and when the occupant has a reasonable belief that such other person has committed a crime in the dwelling in addition to the uninvited entry, or is committing or intends to commit a crime against a person or property in addition to the uninvited entry, and when the occupant reasonably believes that such other person might use any physical force, no matter how slight, against any occupant.

    (3) Any occupant of a dwelling using physical force, including deadly physical force, in accordance with the provisions of subsection (2) of this section shall be immune from criminal prosecution for the use of such force.

    (4) Any occupant of a dwelling using physical force, including deadly physical force, in accordance with the provisions of subsection (2) of this section shall be immune from any civil liability for injuries or death resulting from the use of such force.

  8. Stephen Says:

AS a Coloradan … we passed “castle” doctrine way back in the 80’s (before it was cool), and at the time those opposing it called it the “make my day” law. But we passed it anyway and it’s been very popular, and right or wrong … even we pro-gun supporters tend to call it the “make my day” law. It caught on way back in the day when that Dirty Harry movie came out.

A little less cerebral than “castle doctrine” maybe … but it also shows how little we cared about those that opposed it.

Now if we can just get it passed for businesses as well … (movement underway)

  9. Wolfwood Says:

The judge before whom I regularly practice has declared that he wants to get a Taurus Judge. Right now he has a Steyr M1A, but seems ill content with it.

  10. John Smith. Says:

Fire a warning shot into the air… That is called unlawful discharging of a firearm….

and an extra hole to fix

  12. karrde Says:

I think someone read one too many ads from Taurus about the Judge, and didn’t think to ask people in the Gun Biz whether the ads were hyperbole or fact.

  13. K-dAUG Says:

Too bad Castle Law is weak to non-existent in NY. If that happened here the victim would be in jail, and the two thugs and the dead thug’s family would own everything this guy ever had.

  14. John Smith. Says:

In new york. The Shovel Law exists. You shoot you bury…

  15. Beaumont Says:

@PT: Possibly, really flamboyant masseuses carry the
    Raging Judge?

  16. donkey show Says:

ahh the three S’s. Shoot, Shovel, and Shut up.

  17. Chas Says:

In New York there is no duty to retreat within the home. Outside the home, you have to take a step back before you shoot.
That shovel stuff is BS nonsense from anti-gun rights trolls who are trying to portray gun owners as lawless, murdering, vigilante thugs. Even in anti-gun rights New York you have a right to self-defense with lethal force. There was an incident in Harlem not too long ago where a store owner shot 4 robbers and killed two of them with his shotgun. No shovel, no charges.
Per the commie libs at the NYT:
“Under long-established New York law, a person is allowed to use deadly physical force when he or she reasonably believes it is necessary to meet the imminent use of deadly physical force and there is no reasonable chance of retreating from the danger.”

    article:

    Shovel yo’ momma!

  18. donkey show Says:

she’s small. It’ll be quick work.

  19. JimB Says:

That probably works in NY only if the firearms are permitted types and are registered. Not too long ago a guy in NY shot someone breaking into his home.. He got arreated for having an unlicensed gun. You really can’t win in NY

  20. AK Says:

There’s a federal judge here in Montana who says his Taurus Judge is one of his favorite guns so I guess marketing works. I don’t hold an opinion on it either way because I am just glad we have a federal judge who supports the 2A.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
