No TSA shaming

Last night, at dinner with some friends, one friend tells me he noticed I haven’t been shaming the TSA lately. He wondered why. Honestly, the horror stories kind of stopped. Which means either TSA has stopped doing such stupid things. Or the press has just stopped covering it. Not a whole lot in the news.

But, of note, is that if you’re an elected congress-weasel, TSA will let you into the secure area so you can harass err campaign for votes.

Knowing the press…it’s probably because they’ve gotten bored with it.

We still seem to find plenty of examples of TSA shame. Please join us on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Boycott-Flying/126801010710392

Well, the TSA is just been more effective lately in proving how really lame airport security is.

  4. Michael Silence Says:

Not the latter in our case. We’re big on airport coverage, good, bad or indifferent, because it is a high-interest subject.

My family travels a lot, and our experience with security at Knoxville’s airport has been quite good – and I have an implant, which is an added twist.

I suspect people have just accepted it and moved on. I mean, what choice do they have?

Looks like they successfully turned up the heat to cook the frog.

They’ve generally stopped doing it. Check out the recent entries on TSA Status:

My flights in December had no backscatter/microwave screening at all.

I have taken airplane trips since the New Year, and have three more scheduled in the next 2 weeks. I’ve yet to have a bad experience, or be required to go through the backscatter machine.

Sorry, but I still don’t buy all the crap that was flying in TSA’s direction. Sure their incompetent, but I’ve never felt they were anything but professional and have never been abusive of my rights. And I can pretty much guarantee I fly more miles, more regularly (and hence have more experience with them) than 99% of the people on the internet complaining about them.

  8. countertop Says:

grr, that should have read 4 airplane round trips.

For what its worth, two of them had connections and two were direct flights. So thats actually 8 times through security, and 12 different times in airports with an opportunity for TSA to intrude on my travel (they can still search at the gate, etc).

  9. Phelps Says:

I fly pretty regularly, CT, and I’ve had three particularly bad experiences, including one where the agent (who presumably thought he was some sort of CSI guy) was trying to read through my attorney work product privileged notes.

  10. Phelps Says:

BTW, if CT and anyone else about to fly can provide updates on the TSA Status page I linked, a lot of people will appreciate it.

  11. Countertop Says:

I’ll do that this weekend (I get a new computer tomorrow).

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
