Gasp! That phrase offends. So we cannot use it. Or take seriously those who do.
Everyone knows that they’re not actually talking about Jews murdering children. Whenever someone prefaces anything by the offense at language, it is usually to minimize someone’s point or to avoid unpleasant confrontation. Sorry, that doesn’t fly.

Wow. And here I thought that person was a halfway reasonable liberal, from previous posts of hers you’ve linked to.
Isn’t it interesting how the Left is reduced to picking apart Palin’s grammar and rhetoric in an effort to find something to criticize? And didn’t the actual shooter in the Giffords assassination attempt, Jared Laughner, have a similar obsession?
It seems that Laughner’s madness is catching, at least on the left side of the aisle…

Palin is an idiot. “Blood Libel” means one thing. Offensive or not, it just makes her look stupid to compare herself to pogrom victims.

No, Jay, she is not an idiot and her use of the term is not inappropriate. She was talking about the false theme of conservative rhetoric causing violence. Calling that a “blood libel” is strong, you may find it exaggerated but it is not an invalid comparison.

If you can’t see the parallel between the “blood libel”, the pogroms, the various persecutions of die Jude, and the very public, indiscriminate, and unjustified attacks on Sarah Palin, I’d have to wonder if you’d signed on to the idea that she’s somehow deserving of the treatment she’s received. What has she done to deserve it?

I thought it was the smartest thing that has every come out of her mouth… Problem is it was articulate and very well thought out and totally unlike her. Somebody else wrote this. And it does apply as an analogy. Now for what is wrong with it….
The downside of course is that it was possibly the stupidest time to say it. Talk about being your own worst enemy. A jewish woman is shot by a nuttybuddy and she uses an antijewish analogy to counterattack people who in delusion somehow think she pulled the trigger through mind control.. She should have just shut up and let it blow over. But no she just cannot stay out of the limelight of one second. Now the limelight is a flamethrower and she is getting scorched… PS Vote Cain/Keyes in 2012 forget palin

At least she didn’t misspell “potatoe”. Libs find that unforgivable, for some reason. Meanwhile Biden gets away with his “Gaffe O’ the Day”.
Palin was slandered with the accusation that she was responsible for the murders in Tucson. Her innocence was no defense. The political left quibbled over the accuracy of her use of the term “blood libel” in her defense, but they themselves were willing to heap blame upon her for crimes that she did not commit, as Jews had blame heaped upon them for crimes that they did not commit, which is known as “blood libel”.
