   The original Galil was so tactical that its bipod incorporated a built-in bottle opener.

   (And the whole reason I put a lanyard loop MSH on my Colt was for its utility as a bottle opener. 😀 )

   I’ve tried mixing guns and alcohol but the guns always precipitate out within a few minutes.

   In many parts of the world, they don’t have Aluminum Cans at all. Everything comes in glass bottles, which are cheaper to manufacture and reusable. Go to central Africa and try to find an Aluminum Can, or for that matter, a plastic bottle. Plastic Bottles come at a premium, because people will reuse them over and over, not because they’re Green, but because they’re poor.

   The bipod bottle opener should be a new requirement for the Jeff Cooper Scout Rifle concept.

   Well noted, Matt G. I’m always having to explain “to the younger Scouts” (meaning of course, ‘younger Scouters’) why can and bottle openers were such a big deal for so long. The cork-lined crown cap, and the non-ptomaine tinned can, were a high point for western civilization. Still are, for a few of us.

   I got a Christmas present from a tenderfoot: a candle-lantern bashed and soldered from two tin cans. It works. The Handbook used to be full of crafts projects like that, because everything in the world came in either a can or a bottle.

   When most WWII vets discuss the importance of the P-38, they’re not talking about the Lightning. Alas, there’s also the sad experience of R. Falcon Scott.

   Well, it would come in handy if you’re drinking Mexican Coke, for one. Since I moved to San Antonio that accounts for about 70 percent of my Coke consumption…

    comatus – I used to be able to open a can faster with a p38 than most could dig out the electic can opener, find a plug….

    It’s to open the bottle of perrier. If you spent all that green on fancy doodads to hang on your AR you probable will drink only the premier water. Not that plastic bottle jusk left for the proletaritariat
