Failure

The coyotes are getting awful brave. Mostly because I’ve not shot one in a while. The past few weeks, I’ve heard their yips at night and, yesterday, the dogs were going nuts and I looked out to see a coyote traipsing through the field without a care in the world. In broad daylight. By the time I could retrieve a rifle, it was gone. I remedied that by putting the rifle in a more accessible place.

Today, the dogs were going nuts again. I grabbed the 10/22 and the magazine for it. Tried to pop the magazine in and it was a no go. The first two rounds were hanging out of the mag and the mag had lost its spring. Easily fixed with the turn of an allen wrench. But, still, a lost shot.

When you need it, it can fail.

Now, I have three magazines beside the rifle.

This post is useless without pics!

    😀

I keep a loaded AR-15 next to my recliner just for these household emergencies. Wouldn’t want fidos to have all the fun. Single guy with no life. So no kiddos to worry about.

You ought to go to nashville. I saw a pair of them strolling right past a kroger heading toward opryland. Guess maybe they were big country music fans…

.22 lr is not adequate for ‘yotes.

There is a chance they will survive it and shrug it off.

Can you fire down on the coyotes so that your stray rounds stay on your property?

I saw the link to this post on Facebook. There you only see a little snippet of the topic before you click to come to the page.

I saw “The coyotes are getting awful brave. Mostly because I’ve not shot one in a while.”

My mind immediately went to the two legged “coyotes”: the smugglers who smuggle people across the border.

Finding out the post is about real coyotes is sort of disappointing.

Since we are going off post check this out… I would have loved this as a boy…

I met a guy who buys guts from a butcher, puts them out in a pile, runs a motion detector to a light in his bedroom, and, when the light comes on, shoots the coyotes with an AR using a night vision scope. Now, that’s some serious coyote shooting.

I have found that .38 speed loader holsters are just the right size for 10-22 mags so I keep 2 on the sling. Very handy. A 22 will kill the coyotes, but is a little light. A 22 mag is much better and quite adequate. As a former sheep and angora goat raiser I have killed 100s over many years with a wide variety of guns. I’m very partial to my Ruger 22 Hornet for out to 200 yards. I have a 220 Swift for the real long range shots.

They’re having good luck with coyotes as pest control in Chicago. Maybe I can come import some of yours to deal with the out of control rats around here.

Who doesn’t have a loaded AR or 12 ga. @ the ready for yotes or anything else? Yes, I have offspring in my house.

Here is a 10/22 in case you are swarmed by zombie ‘yotes’ in close quarters.

    Linky to Gun Pr0n.

BTW Many thanks for the store link earlier today. It’s had 1,093 visitors and 2,370 page views as of now.

The Grand Opening seems to be going well.

Sometimes at night, we can hear a bunch of high-pitched yips from out in the woods. Probably a mama coyote bringing home something to eat.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
