Hope and Change

Feds want more authority to wiretap skype, facebook, blackberry, and, generally, anything you do.

From Joe: You can have my crypto keys when you reanimate your cold dead hands.

And the Obama administration is arguing that it can execute American citizens without a trial.

Now here is, ladies and gentlemen…. your “What if Bush did it” moment of the day.

A capture or kill list is a hit list. It means capture or kill targets of opportunity. If you see him and he is beyond of arms length kill him. As for the encryption why is this a shock?? Obama and bush are related what do you expect….

i didn’t like it when bush did it either.

If its ok for the government to kill American citizens without a trial, is it ok for American citizens to …..never mind.

Remember, “the Constitution gets in the way” of things Obama would like to do.

So much for the “fierce moral urgency”, but more significantly so much for the idea that those attacking Bush for his admin’s conduct of the war on terrorism were doing so for pure principle.

Illegal combatant fighting with the enemy trumps citizenship any day.

Remeber Lt. Spears in Band of Brothers, and his run-in with captured US citizens, now German soldiers, who had returned to Germany with their parents before the war? Did he shoot them all or was that just a rumor?

Did Bush ever order a hit on a US citizen. I don’t believe he did. IIRC correctly (too lazy to look it up), the NYT article says he went as far as building a list of US citizens that were suspected jihadists, but never gave the order.

And I’m fine with that. There’s a brightline between the President’s responsibility to foreign nationals and US citizens, and that bright line is the level of due process. I don’t want the President killing foreign nationals on a whim, but if he’s got credible evidence, fuck ’em. If you don’t like it, either don’t screw with us, or build a country that we don’t want to screw with. OTOH, the President is obligated to give a citizen their day in court.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
