Harry Reid: No Endorsement

Chris Cox:

After careful consideration, the NRA-PVF announced today that it will not be endorsing Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid for re-election in the 2010 U.S. Senate race in Nevada.

They were serious about this Kagan and Sotomayor stuff.

The Racist Roots of Gun Control

Tennessee has a law that has long been credited with being the start of the trend of infringing the right to arms for black people. That law specified it it was unlawful to carry a weapon with the intent to go armed, unless it was a Army or Navy pistol which shall be carried openly in the hand. And those pistols were expensive. Now, the city of Belle Meade is looking into getting rid of the ordinance:

That proposed ordinance passed on first reading Feb. 17 but has been deferred ever since.

After the board introduced the first proposed ordinance, rumors spread that the city would ban the public from carrying handguns, prompting the March website posting by the commissioners.

But as Mayor Gray Thornburg told The City Paper, the city just looked to remove the antiquated law from its books and anyone with a state issued handgun carry permit can carry in Belle Meade.

“The long and short of it is,” Thornburg said, “we realized that we had an ordinance that a) was not appropriate and b) more importantly was very discriminatory, and so we needed to make a change.”

They are looking to repeal the law that specifies open carry of a specific type of handgun. Seems the police only enforce state law anyway.

Quote of the Day

Jon Stewart on the community center at ground zero:

One side says, ‘Our weakness emboldens jihadis.’ The other side says, ‘Our strength embitters jihadis.’ How about we try a new system where we don’t give a fuck about what they think?

Indeed.

How to

Putting a scout type scope on a Mosin.

PDA

I don’t mind either one. But people usually do conceal guns, or the cops get called.

ETA: Tam:

I wonder when was the last time the person in this photograph got gunned down by the cops in a Las Vegas Costco for the crime of holding hands?

Faux pas

Tactical Pants Operator Error

Someone needed a box opened. So I stuck my hand in one of the many pockets of my tactical pants to get a blade and handed them a Kel-Tec magazine instead. Oops.

Demand

Since AZ passed carry without a permit, gun sales have increased.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
