More women turning to guns

Good. Now, we need to teach those women some trigger discipline.

Yeah because you fellas have so much to teach us.

I mean male cops never shoot themselves in the foot after saying they “are the only one” qualified to handle a GLOCK.

And male cops never shoot a toddler in the back of a car-jacked vehicle as they shoot a 42 rounds at 1 suspect.

And male cops never stage a military-style raid on the wrong house in Atlanta and kill an 81-year-old grandmother who thought the neighborhood gang had come to call.

And male Vice Presidents never shoot their friends in the face while on a staged hunting trip.

In fact, I can’t think of a publicized incident – usually mocked on this blog as an example of the “only ones” that didn’t cover a female cop being lax with trigger discipline.

So I’m sure that the world will so much better when you guys get around to teaching us about safe gun handling.

    Sheesh.

  2. SayUncle Says:

I’m equally critical of poor gun handling no matter if one has a tally-whacker or not. And the lady in that pic needs to get her booger hook off the bang switch. And I don’t care if she has a vagina.

“Only ones”? Wrong blog. We covered this one a bit back.

And on top of that, men have no shoe sense!

  4. Zendo Deb Says:

Uncle, people in general need to learn trigger discipline. But your “know we need to teach them” line is a bit 1950ish.

  5. SayUncle Says:

So, you take issue with my choice of pronoun?

  6. Zendo Deb Says:

I take issue with the tone that all these woman need help based on the fact that one woman, who was having her picture taken (did she know this was for a national news paper? Was she just a bit nervous?) shows poor trigger discipline.

I don’t remember anyone saying, after the original “only one” episode – so beautifully captured on video – that we need to teach “all those men” safe gun handling, based on the misadventures of one idiot.

I’m sure it you ask, someone will read you the definition of “stereotyping” from a dictionary.

  7. SayUncle Says:

Not buying it. In the original only one, he was identified as a fed. Hence, ridicule targeted toward feds. In this case, the focus is on women. And the woman pictured needs to abide by some trigger discipline. My nouns agree. Nothing to see here.

  8. Hyman Roth Says:

A dumbass who shouldn’t have a badge is still a dumbass no matter the gender.

But maybe trigger discipline is like the ability to drive a car or parallel-park said car…

  9. Heather Says:

I guess it’s the men that need to work on it then, Hyman? Because I can parallel park way better than my husband.

  10. straightarrow Says:

Yeah, Hell we don’t have anything better to do than argue about which set of genitals endows its owner with superiority. Get the Hell over yourselves.

  11. RosieRac Says:

I think men need to work on figuring out what women find threatening. I seem to recall a couple of recent cases where women have killed men who: 1) approached their car; or 2) spit on them. One I know was chalked up to self-defense. I can’t remember on the other one but she claimed self-defense too.

Men start out taller and bigger than most of us women, so it doesn’t take that much to turn you into a “threat.”

  12. Hyman Roth Says:

Whoopsie. In my comment (which was meant as a joke), I originally had a final line in brackets which read:

    (hides under desk)

But since it was in brackets, it was interpreted by the comment genie as a formatting command and did not appear. Sorry for any confusion.

  13. julie Says:

Great to see and hear that more people (especially women) are learning to use firearms. Yes, trigger discipline is important regardless of gender … and it is imcumbent upon anyone teaching new shooters to emphasise the importance of it!

(BTW i blogged about introducing women to shooting today!).

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
