Newsweek + Zumbo mention = jagoff-fest [yawn] Zumbo is long irrelevant IMHO, he should be keel-hauled.

Other than not mentioning Zumbo’s “come to Jesus” moment a couple of months after he made his bone headed statement, I though the article was pretty good. I like that they mention how the anti-gunners muddy the waters. They also mention how just about any rifle that has been used in war has also been popular in the civilian market.

From what are usually a bunch of clueless hacks, a pretty good article.

You meant Business Week, not Newsweek. See your link.

    Rambo rifles?
I don’t believe Rambo ever used an AR-15 in any of the Rambo movies.
The small arms I remember him using are M60,AK,bolt rifle,1911 and M16 for a short time in the first movie. Although I must admit I don’t remember much about the 3rd movie when he goes to Afghanistan to rescue Colonel Trautman.
Anyone wanna help me out here?

“The solution, Sanetti says, is to rebrand the weapons as “modern sporting rifles…”

Speaking of re-branding, maybe we should call them “progressive” rifles.

I like the term “state-of-the-art” which is after all an accurate description. If they hadn’t been rebranded as “assault weapons” we wouldn’t need to have this conversation.

As for the war-weapons-as-popular-for-civilian-use theme; I point out that during the American Revolutionary period, rifles were more common for civilian use, whereas the vast majority of military long arms were smoothbores. In other words, the Founders would have understood that many civilian arms were in ways (weight and accuracy) superior to the military arms.

    What’s wrong with “modern”?

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
