Bad ammo, reloads or other
Police officer’s Glock 21 exploded. Cause looks to be bad ammo. First time it was shot, apparently, which rules out using non-jacketed ammo in a Glock, which can be bad.

In this post on what I’ve been told about the new Glocks, I noted:
It will have a different frame texture, which I have heard from others is somewhere between the standard Glock frame and the Glock Rough Textured Frame.
And this post from The Firearm Blog in January has an interesting photo showing two types of rough textured frames. Could the RTF3 be the fourth generation’s frame?
Porn doesn’t change sexual behaviors of viewers:
If pornography had the impact that many claim it has, you would just have to show heterosexual films to a homosexual to change his sexual orientation
While I doubt it will turn people gay or straight, seems to me it could change some behaviors, like wanting to try something you saw. Also funny:
Researchers were conducting a study comparing the views of men in their 20s who had never been exposed to pornography with regular users.
But their project stumbled at the first hurdle when they failed to find a single man who had not been seen it.
I blame the internet.
NY soup kitchen throws away donated food. Because it has transfat in it.
I’m trying to finish up David Kopel’s new book, Aiming For Liberty. My reading has suffered lately.
Jeff: The book is a worthwhile addition to the literature of civil rights
Dave gets his interview on.
It’s understandable that Dennis Henigan wouldn’t recognize grassroots efforts. Since his organization doesn’t have any.
And why they lose
Kurt tells us that Mark Karlin (AKA Joyce Shill Gun Guys) says that NRA members should be on the terrorists watch list.
This actually looks like an excellent plan, with ammo prices being what they are. (note: scroll down to Skill Set).
A couple of unpopular wars and people get their libertarian on.
At the moment, I think a lot of us want to be isolated from our government.
I think catering to the birthers is probably the nail in the coffin of her political career.
And this one looks cool: VBR-B Multi-Caliber (9mm NATO/7.92×24mm) Compact PDW Pistol
We had the Obama Gun Sale Spike and people thought it was leveling off and prices were coming down. But S&W’s sales were up 49%.
Man’s office raided while he assembles a Glock from Legos. And that Lego Glock looks pretty cool.
In regards to a case mentioned a bit back about a SWAT raid in NJ over illegal guns:
ALL pending charges were DISMISSED. It turns out that the firearms in question belonged to the man’s father- who possessed them legally and hid the weapons in the house. The family lost track of them after the father contracted Alzheimers and subsequently passed away, followed a few weeks later by the mother’s passing too. All other weapons were legally possessed hence no charges were ever considered for them. 4 or 5 firearms is really considered a cache too these days? Or simply further examples of the press taking liberties with the truth with “fright words” solely chosen for their ability to inflame.
This was simply a huge waste of time and money, and full of almost totally completely incorrect information in the press- not to mention nearly ruining the life of an innocent person in the process. The helmet mentioned actually was the father’s– but a simple steel “pot” from the Korean war- and NOT kevlar! Didn’t even remotely look like one. Really, what a great reason to invade a home with 15 SWAT officers. Also, finally, no armor-piercing ammo was ever found. How much did this debacle cost us taxpayers- and the poor law-abiding citizen?
I apparently missed the 4,000,000 page view mark from sitemeter, which happened a week or so ago. So, uh, go me!
Update: It occurs to me now that my 3M mark occurred in January. Pulling down a million in about a year. Cool.
A friend of mine who recently went to Jamaica brought back something he bought there:

Smoking apparently causes everything. Ok, then.
Talked to one of the few people who would know about the Fourth Generation Glock that’s slated to come out soon. It’s apparently being kept pretty quiet until it’s debut and info isn’t easy to come by. What I have confirmed:
It will debut at SHOT, though I know of some LEOs and gun writers who’ve seen but pinky swore not to talk about it.
It will have adjustable back straps to accommodate different hand sizes.
It will have a different frame texture, which I have heard from others is somewhere between the standard Glock frame and the Glock Rough Textured Frame.
I asked about the rumor I had heard that it would have a different recoil spring (rumor was it would be a double spring to reduce recoil). And I was told that it would have some different internal parts. I don’t know what that means.
And it will debut in Glock 17 and 22 models. I.e., the full size 9mm and .40S&W,
I like to highlight when folks in the gun biz advertise here so: E Tactical Rifle Scopes and 1911 Pistol Grips are advertising here now.
HOA orders 90 year old medal of honor winner to take down a flag pole. Says Marko:
Also, you have to question the smarts of a group of people who decided to boss around a man who took on three German Tiger tanks head-on armed with only a bazooka and a Thompson, and came out on top.
Via Alan Gura, Reason’s Brian Doherty has a look at the legal strategery:
If McDonald is won without the death of Slaughterhouse, it will still be a cheering victory for a core constitutional right. But if Gura wins the way he wants to win, he will have succeeded in creating a constitutional revolution of sorts, one with both promise and peril for keeping government power within prescribed limits.
Good luck, sir.
There are some takeaways from the recent Climategate shenanigans. One of those takeaways is not that it disproves global warming. Sure, it shows a concerted effort to hide data, manipulate results, and pressure folks into groupthink but it’s not a giant conspiracy to bring a new world communist order. Simpler explanation for conspiratorial minded folks would be it’s about getting money. That said, I perused around looking for someone that I generally trust but who holds a different viewpoint from me on the issue to see what they said, which has been hard because they usually just call critics flat-earthers and say nyuh uh. But then it occurred to me who I could read. And that person was Tim Lambert. Tim and I had a few back and forths years back over his criticisms of John Lott and Fumento. While I can find only a few issues we agree on, I’ve generally trusted Tim. So, I went to see what he had to say. He notes that some of the coding accusations are unfounded, that the BBC didn’t get all the emails early, and criticizes people for this whole communist government angle, while explaining the trick thing. Frankly, those have been some of the few rebuttals I found worth reading because the rest seem to consist of nyuh uh.
I will note that the folks screaming it’s a giant commie plot aren’t helping. Your opponents just have to minimize your accusations because you are, after all, screaming about a commie plot. They’ll even call you the frothing at the mouth lower half. While telling you that ZOMG!!!11eleven! we’re all gonna die over minute changes in temperature. But minute temperature changes omitted from studies are insignificant. I don’t expect alarmists and deniers to get along or agree but you can figure out which people from either side are worth listening to.
Other Climategate stuff:
Network news won’t cover it but Jon Stewart will.
Eric Raymond has a bunch of posts on it.
Michael Mann under investigation. Like Phil Jones.
I’d heard of a company called Tennessee Guns International on a few gun boards. Never thought much of it but recently realized they’re located in my county of residence. And, apparently, the feds are looking into them as part of an audit of some sort:
An East Tennessee gun-maker and importer is facing a federal investigation.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms has seized several small truckloads of materials — including gun parts–from Tennessee Guns International, or T.G.I., of Blount County.
A TGI spokesperson will confirm only that federal agents took the materials as part of a routine audit required of all licensed gun importers, manufacturers, and re-sellers.
“TGI is cooperating fully,” says sales manager Ryan Patrick.
Update: Tam is familiar with TGI and relays some info.
Update 2: Folks at arfcom say it’s a routine audit and been going on for a month.
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
