I’m going to guess the result of this could be that our guys stop taking them alive.

The problem, as I understood it from the milblogs, is that Special Ops don’t have that option. It’s do or die or you’re not a SEAL or Delta anymore. If they’re ordered to capture, they have to capture. If they’re ordered to safeguard, they have to safeguard. Otherwise, even if they’re not punished, they’re off the teams and they go to regular units. Which is why they could not accept non-judicial punishment, a welcom option for other soldiers, but must seek complete exoneration through a court martial.

Change we can believe in ….. a more politically correct way to engage and “win over the hearts” of the enemy.

    I say Whale spit!

  4. Cargosquid Says:

Remember, if you know that you’re going to be proven guilty, accept the offered Non-judicial punishment….
If you’re not guilty, and believe you can win, request Mast.

    They REQUESTED Mast.

I believe the scumbag did it to himself.

“result…our guys stop taking them alive”

You mean that that isn’t SOP?! That should have been SOP since back when the Bush admin started engaging in catch & release – and the scum started showing up back on the battle field. If they simply never survived the battle field to begin with…”Problem has been solved! Good day!”

I simply love it when wars are run by politicians. /sarcasm

    Say what?

They REFUSED mast. Mast is the unofficial term for Non-judicial punishment.

They exercised their right under the UCMJ to decline non-judicial punishment and demand court-martial.

  7. Cargosquid Says:

My mistake. I just saw that I “miswrote”. I meant to write that they request court martial. It had been a very long day.

Yep. Refused MAST. REQUESTED Court Martial.

    Give ’em hell SEALS!

How sick is it when enemy combatants who are dedicated to the eradication of our nation find that their most potent weapon against our military personnel is our own political administration?
