Another Chicago Gun Brief

An overwhelming majority of congresscritters come out on the side of truth, justice and the American way:

An overwhelming, bipartisan majority of members of the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate have signed an amicus curiae, or “friend of the court,” brief supporting the NRA’s position that the Second Amendment is incorporated against the states through the Fourteenth Amendment. The amicus brief, bearing the signatures of 251 Members of Congress and 58 Senators, was filed with the U.S. Supreme Court today in the case of McDonald v. City of Chicago.

I wish I could even believe that 309 congresscritters had even a shred of integrity to vote “truth, justice and the American way.” Instead I think there are probably about 10, the rest are self serving sycophants.

Well then, why the heck don’t the goshdurned Congresscritters excercise their power under the Fourteenth Amendment to make the right to keep and bear arms a statutory civil right?

  3. Jay Says:

Because it’s just kissing ass. They want the general public to think that they are on our side.

  4. Ian Argent Says:

Because until the 2A is incorporated, the question of whether the congress has that power is limited by previous SCOTUS decisions (particularly, Presser, IIRC).

(OK, they could do it now, but several states would sue, not to mention Brady et al.)

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
