I would point out that DOD civilian police officers do not get the LEO pay scale, the LEO retirement, do not have statutory law enforcement powers, and can not carry firearms off duty. Now might be a good time to correct this.

Ft Hood has a civilian police force, and Ms. Munley was an officer of that force.

The number of people in uniformed military service is restricted by Congress. Using civilians for administrative and other non-military duties allows more uniformed personnel to perform strictly military duties.

So did this take place near base or on base? Why did a Civilian cop have to stand up to this nut instead of the active duty MPs? Or were they with her and she just shot straighter than they did?
