Good and bad

The NFL wants to implement a program to ensure that players that carry guns get an appropriate permit. The also want players to register their guns. Of course, someone should tell the folks at the NFL that we don’t register guns. At least in the free states.

Rusty has the skinny.

Balls

A man accused of running a cockfighting ring is suing the local Humane Society. For mistreating his birds.

All politics is local

Acting Locally, Thinking Nationally

The party of the little guy

So long as the little guy has deep pockets.

What bias?

An article on an air rifle team. With an image of a Kalashnikov for some reason.

Research

And journalists who don’t do any.

across the pond

In Ireland:

IFA inundated with complaints about new gun laws

UNDER new legislation, all gun owners are required to invest a huge amount of time, satisfying complex and confusing red tape requirements, according to IFA countryside chairman David Wilkinson. He called on the justice minister to rethink the newly introduced licensing system for firearms.

Where Great Britain Used To Be:

The British Medical Association (BMA) and Association of Chief Police Officers have discussed ways in which doctors can be made aware of patients who own firearms.

The BMA’s plan to “tag” – or highlight – the medical records of patients who have shotgun or firearms licences have received a mixed reaction.

Machine Gun Shoot To Benefit Tennessee Tea Party

Ben has the details.

flag@whitehouse.gov

Obama administration getting sued for it’s boneheaded snitching on dissenters move:

“My hate mail started shortly after the White House issued the ‘fishy’ request,” said Kathryn Serkes, AAPS’ Director of Policy and Public Affairs. “We were quite visible and vocal before then, so it doesn’t seem like a coincidence. Who did they share their data with? With whom might they share it?”

Lessons from gun school

Tam goes and brings some good advice:

The middle of an expensive class is not the time to find out that your gun is a lemon.

How i do that

I type 79 words per minute. With 100% accuracy. Can’t figure out why I have so many typos on the blog though. How about you?

The AMA on health care reform

Heh.

It bears repeating

Do not try to catch a dropped gun.

A good cause

Damn fine idea: Take a Vet to Lunch

Things I’ve learned on facebook

I’ve been on facebook for a week. Here’s what I have learned:

Everyone is having a bad day.

People hate Mondays.

But they like cats. Facebook is like a Garfield comic. No word on lasagna yet.

The sports franchise from your particular geographic region is superior to the sports franchise from my particular geographic region.

I am the only person on Earth who doesn’t play Mafia Wars.

Well, obviously

Will Wilkinson:

It ought to be less embarrassing to have been influenced by Ayn Rand than by Karl Marx.

It is.

FOPA Case

Joe and David discuss the case against NYC in which the city violates federal law by arresting those traveling lawfully with firearms for local firearms violations.

No time for ‘good taste’ in politics

Michael C. Moynihan:

doesn’t good taste dictate that ObamaCare advocates wait at least one business day before using Ted Kennedy’s death to agitate for health care reform?

As Wellstone’s untimely death showed, never waste a tragedy.

We should ban nail guns in bars

In a bar fight, real gun beats nail gun.

Don’t leave pets in cars

SPCA CEO’s dog dies after four hours in a hot car. A tad ironic. Poor dog.

Care v. Insurance

Corker says he’s for health insurance reform. However, I think he and those that oppose nationalized health insurance should keep making that distinction. One of the more effective bits of propaganda from the socialized medicine crowd is to label it health care reform. It has as much to do with health care reform as arguing over who pays the tab has on the quality of your dinner.

Tax Spies

From the state that brought us Kelo, comes this:

Municipal Tax Services, a private Trumbull-based firm, will comb city streets at night with an infrared camera, photographing every license plate. Plate numbers automatically will be entered into a database that will be cross checked with the city’s grand list of taxable property.

The politics of death

A look at how how MA chooses a successor. Interestingly, the law was put there in case Kerry won. And Kennedy recently tried to change it back.

Party above all.

Tragic

Gun rights activist Carl Kuhn’s death was a homicide.

I make a motion

I think the four rules of firearm safety should be amended and we should add Rule 5: Never try to catch a dropped gun. Ask Plaxico Burres as well.

Sure, it’s covered by rule three but if you’re quickly trying to stop gravity from working, your booger-hook could end up on the bang-switch. So, the point needs to be emphasized.

All in favor?

Obama Golf

Heh.

Lessons from Plaxico Burress

Use a holster.

I find it unusual that, through his pants, he managed to grab the trigger but I guess that is possible. However, an appropriate holster would have prohibited that from happening.

Good news: You’re not a felon

Mentioned a bit back the ATF’s NFA Handbook said pin and weld was not an acceptable method of applying devices that extend barrel length, thereby making thousands of people law-breakers. Well, the ATF has since recanted. Apparently, NRA read it on the blogs and went to the ATF about the issue. Cool.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
