At CCA we've had to ration the "popular" ball ammo loads. There's so much business in beginner and HCP classes that we have to stretch to keep the non-owners in ammo for their rentals.

We're still out of .380, but thanks to the "one box" policy on the thinner non-rental stuff you can still get a box of Wolf .223. That is, if we haven't run out of what we could scrounge up already...

Whatever happened to the company making plastic .38 and .223 cartridges? If there ever was a time for that idea it's now, maybe even with some kind of integral priming to avoid shortages in those too. If bullets are in short supply I'm sure they could whip up a suitable plastic/bismuth matrix heavy enough to be stable and small enough to stay within OAL...

The Wal-Mart in Atlanta, Tx had mostly empty shelves. They did however have seven or eight boxes of .308 Winchester. At nearly a dollar a round. $18.95/box of 20. OUCH!

Walmart in Asheville had 3 boxes of .223, but I already have a bunch of that. They had some .308 rounds and some .25 auto, and the rest was all shotgun.

I can't quite put my finger on it, but I think that's a classic joke. "When we don't have them we sell them for that price, too!"

My wife shoots, just not as much as I do. She knows what commercially available calibers I have, and she definitely knows what she shoots.

Butcher: “Lady, if we were out, we’d give ‘em away.”

Why couldn't you have told me that joke six or seven years ago? I'd have worn it slap out by now.

Lady: "How much the pork chops?"
Butcher: "Forty-nine a pound."
Lady: "Schmidt has them thirty-nine."
Butcher: "Well buy from Schmidt then."
Lady: "Schmidt's out."
Butcher: "Lady, if we were out, we'd give 'em away."

Heavily-tattoo'd, roughty-toughty revolver-totin' bald biker at my gun club meeting last week: "My wife, God bless her. What a great woman. Always scouting for ammo for me. Does anybody want to buy two boxes of .357...SIG?"

You're lucky. Actual conversation from a few days ago:

ME: "...if you're going over to wal-mart, can you look to see if there's any 45ACP or .380 in the sporting goods section?

THE WIFE: "uh,......hugh?

ME: "that's ok, I'll come to....

Took me 3 seconds to see empty shelves and only shotgun shells stocked. The rest of my trip was spent looking at shower curtains.
