local radio show has spent the last hour and a half on this, bring 4 year olds in studio blah blah blah "they can't fire a gun." Trigger pull is how much? They're saying 20 gauge here. SxS? Single shot? Pump?

The cop interviewed said the kid LOADED it as well.

Me thinks they should have all got their stories straight.

Yeah, it COULD have happened, but I think the other teens did it.

Witnesses told police the child was angry because Beavers accidentally stepped on his foot. Beavers was watching the child at a mobile home in Jackson with several other teenagers and several other children.

I think I've found the problem.

My son who is now 7 has been aware of the guns I keep. He does not touch them and tells anyother kid that they are not to be touched. Since we have an in home day care I also take the precaution of using trigger locks and keeping all ammunition in locked boxes.

Of course we do not encourage anger in our children nor do we have groups of kids watching kids for extended periods.

Seems to have worked so far.

My cubicle buddy mentioned this story to me and I said "now there's a boy that has never been properly trained in firearms safety".

He said "Mm-hmm! When I was a kid, we had guns all over the place laying around and I never thought about shootin' nobody"

Me too. Besides which, when my kids were four they weren't strong enough to work the actions on any of our weapons (I tested them on it). This was probably an unsecured, loaded weapon left in the same house as a child. Good job, parents.
