I don't have iSnipe so shouldn't say a whole lot about it but everything you said in your first paragraph appears to be correct to me.

If they add the environmental data it will be useable. If they add the "Solution" portion it will be a great app. Assuming they are using a good algorithm for their ballistic simulation. I haven't verified that yet but I intend to sometime.

Bring it to Boomershoot and see how well it does for your first shot at 700 yards. Then we'll both know.

Or compare the results with MBF at Boomershoot. I plan to have a local server running on the Wifi network and update the environmentals so the local users don't have to.

OK, let's see... iSnipe tells me where the bullet's going to go (minus corrections for environmental factors), and MBF tells me how to make it go where I want?

Says on their website that they've got a lot of new features "in the pipeline." Hopefully those will address your concerns and it will be a great app.

Think of it this way, iSnipe tells you what the problem is. Modern Ballistics for the Field tells you what the solution is.

Well thppppt! For those of us who know nothing about that sort of stuff, isnipe looks snazzy and tells us how much our dumb bullet drops at distance x in some conditions :)

Hopefully they'll add those features, and hopefully I'll know more about what you're writing about when I get my dumb butt to boomershoot this spring.

iSnipe is pretty but is essentially useless. Currently it doesn't take into account the environmental conditions. And even if it did it doesn't give you the answer to the two questions you want to know before you take your first shot at that 1000 yard target at 2000 feet elevation change and 40F temperature change from when you zeroed the gun. Those two questions are 1) What elevation setting do I use? 2) What windage setting do I use?

Beyond that iSnipe doesn't help you with moving targets and it only works on the iPhone.

It's currently a poor imitation of a good desktop exterior ballistics program. Modern Ballistics is showing it's age (originally written in '96) it still has features no other program has.
