On the offensive
NRA is running some ads about Barack Obama. See the videos here.
Texas Republican Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison and 46 other senators have asked for Senate floor time for House-passed legislation to roll back District of Columbia gun laws.
In a letter Thursday to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid , D-Nev., the group asked him to call up the bill before the end of the 110th Congress.
?We ask you to ensure that D.C. residents do not have to wait any longer to realize their constitutional rights,? Hutchison and her allies wrote. The letter was signed by five Democrats. ?
Reid has not decided whether or when to call up the legislation, according to his spokesman.
Some folks doubted ATF would classify the Palm Pistol as a pistol. Matt emailed me the ATF letter. Sebastian posted a copy.
Of course, it’s still possible for ATF to change it’s mind. Which, if history is an indication, will be after production and sales ramp up.
Over at NewWest, The American Hunters And Shooters Association is trying to deny that it is a false flag front for anti-gunners trying to appear pro-gun. And that they are shills for the Democrat Leadership Council. Seems they blame John Lott. John Lott is not the one who put the piece of that puzzle together. That legwork was done by Gun Law News who followed the money.
Meanwhile, David Hardy follows the money too and notes, as we suspected all along, they are a false flag. Why would Schoenke donate money to a group whose goal was to ban guns if he wasn’t, you know, anti-gun.
Meanwhile, from my own round up of the American Hunters and Shooters Association:
The NSSF has a fact sheet on them here:
Reported in an article by Bill Schneideri that the operating budget for AHSA is $500,000. Where did this money come from? With only a handful of members (paying $25 dues) – who is bankrolling their operation?
When you follow the money, they read like a who’s who of gun grabbers. They are a front for the anti-gun Democratic Leadership Council so that anti-gun politicos can say they belong to a group that sounds pro-gun.
Members (five of them that they disclose) of the AHSA are anti-gun lobbyists.
They’re basically a shill group set up so that anti-gun candidates can try to woo the hunting crowd. Note that their only endorsement victory (McCaskill) did not sign on to support Heller.
AHSA wrote a non-opposition opposition to Heller for it’s wording.
The president allegedley helped a reporter break the law by engaging in straw purchases.
They pay people to stand outside NRA meetings to protest. Can’t get any volunteers with all your members?
They support they anti-gun Mayors Against Guns.
Field and Stream (you know, real hunters and real shooters) don’t seem to be a fan.
They keep peddling the Zumbo myth.
They call gun owners extremists and whackos. That’s correct. The Executive Director of a supposedly pro-gun group is calling those who buy weapons for self-defense (i.e., the largest growing demographic of gun owners) whackos. So, who exactly are the shooters in American Hunters and Shooters?
They say any woman who buys a gun is a sign of law-breaking.
But remember, I’m just a shill for the NRA who is bad and not really pro-gun.
The number of Floridians with permission to pack heat has jumped nearly 50 percent in three years.
In 2005, one year before the state Legislature’s decision to provide anonymity to people holding concealed weapons licenses, there were 347,350 active permits statewide.
Now, that number has swelled to about 520,000.
Some states ask applicants why they want a concealed weapons license. Florida isn’t one of them. That makes it almost impossible to say who is getting licensed and why.
Sort of related is Who’s Packing Heat:
A pit bull lunges for a 4-year-old boy as he walks with his father to Saturday services at a Harrisburg synagogue. The father pulls his pistol and shoots the dog. In the parking lot of an Annville-Cleona school, a student finds a loaded handgun. Turns out, a school bus driver with a permit to carry it dropped it from her purse.
In the wake of a shooting outside Harrisburg Mall, police arrest and then release an armed man in a car. He’s not a suspect, they say, and he has a permit to pack that pistol. Recent stories like these point to a quiet revolution in American gun laws that began two decades ago, with Pennsylvania in the vanguard.
Wow. It’s like normal, every day people get carry permits or something.
Jim Richardson was aware of the odds when he made up his mind on a birthday gift for his father, Virgil Richardson of Davison Township.
The 54-year old Frankenmuth man wanted to track down the M1 Garand .30-caliber rifle his father carried more than 50 years ago as a soldier in the Korean War and present it to him on his 79th birthday next month.
Mr. C. notes that Hi Cap Guns will be bring some goodies to the Rendezvous.
Shaping up to be quite the event. Sadly, I cannot make it this year due to scheduling conflicts. I’m bummed.
Shooting Wire notes that Crimson Trace is catering to women with some pink laser grips.
Nothing new but a look at Obama’s anti-gun record.
Meanwhile, Biden (with an F from NRA) says:
‘I guarantee you, Barack Obama ain’t taking my shotguns, so don’t buy that malarkey,’ Biden said angrily. ‘They’re going to start peddling that to you.’
‘I got two, if he tries to fool with my Beretta, he’s got a problem.’
I seem to recall him saying other gun owner needed help. Relax, they keep saying, we don’t have the votes.
Meanwhile, Obama has never seen gun control he didn’t support.
Are these persimmons? I’m pretty sure they look like them and they look like the wiki entry pic.

If so, what do you do with them?
I knew it wouldn’t go well but not that bad.
Wall Street all of a sudden favors Government intervention into the economy, as evidenced by the 400 point spike at the Dow.
So, VP candidate Biden first said that paying taxes was patriotic. It’s also a good way not to have your life ruined by the IRS. In defending the comment, he said paying taxes is next to Godliness:
“Catholic social doctrine as I was taught it is, you take care of people who need the help the most,” he said. “Now it’d be different if you could make the case to me that by giving this tax cut to the very wealthy, everybody else was going to be better off. We saw what happened the last eight years when we gave that tax cut.”
However, Biden doesn’t look to take care of people, according to his tax returns. Money talks.
As Tam said:
In business news this morning ZOMG WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE!!!
So, basically, we have two huge companies and their performance sucks more than Metallica’s new album. The solution to the problem, if you’re a politician or a retard, is to bail them out. What that would mean is our government is going to buy something that nobody wants at a price no one wants to pay with money the government probably doesn’t have to spend anyway. This comes after two other big companies tank. Yeehaw, corporate welfare!
That’s the short term fix. These two companies are heavily regulated, one because it’s basically a quasi-government agency anyway and the other because it’s in a highly regulated industry and in NY. Under such oversight, these companies still failed. The long term solution, if you’re a politician or a retard, is more regulation! Yes because that worked out so well the first time.
In other news, LIBOR had a big one day decrease indicating that banks no longer want to loan other banks money. That means your small town bank may have an issue getting a float from a larger bank.
And in the case of one of the companies, Obama’s economic adviser made major bling running it. That’s a confidence builder.
For a sense of scale, DirtCrashr points out that the Enron collapse was to the tune of $65 billion. Fannie Mae is in at $6.5 trillion. And made a lot of rich Democrats richer.
In times like this, ammo is a good investment. Oh sure, it won’t make you any money but it provides you with some needed stress release.
Meet the guys that surf Al Gore’s Internets and get shirts that make fun of their messiah yanked:
Much of Barack Obama’s political success can be traced to a database listing contact information for millions of people, a tool that has proved invaluable in raising record sums of money and organizing a national volunteer network.
Now Obama’s presidential campaign is increasingly using the list to beat back media messages it does not like, calling on supporters to flood radio and television stations when those opposed to him run anti-Obama ads or appear on talk shows.
It did so as recently as Monday night, when it orchestrated a massive stream of complaints on the phone lines of Tribune Co.-owned WGN-AM in Chicago when the radio station hosted author David Freddoso, who has written a controversial book about the Illinois Democrat.
The latest use of the database, called the Obama Action Wire, is proving yet another new and potentially powerful tactic in the closing weeks of a campaign that has already been dominated by Internet-based messages and media.
So, that’s what a community organizer does.
And it seems that Sarah Palin has had her private email account hacked. By a student here in Tennessee, who is the son of a state representative.
Adams Arms makes a Retrofit Piston Driven System for the AR-15.
At $500 though, I could just build another AR to carry around in case the first one jammed up.
Barack Pinocchio Obama asked his supporters to lie for him:
“And if they tell you that, ‘Well, we’re not sure where he stands on guns.’ I want you to say, ‘He believes in the Second Amendment.’
The issue is that he doesn’t. Never has. Did he fight for the gun rights of the law-abiding in Illinois? Nope. Did he sign on to the Congressional Heller brief affirming a right to arms? Nope. What did he do? Supported all manner of gun control.
Ohioans for Concealed Carry scored a victory:
In a 4-3 ruling, the Ohio Supreme Court has rejected the City of Clyde’s appeal in OFCC v. Clyde and ruled that Clyde’s ban on concealed carry in their parks is unconstitutional!
Reports were that Google-owned youtube was going to ban gun videos. That’s not entirely true:
The UK version of YouTube is going to remove videos of people using guns and knives to intimidate or frighten others? They are following a strong ?suggestion? from British leaders who believe their citizens must be protected from the internet. Wow?suddenly those facts aren?t nearly as sensational as the headline.
It is Google and they do shit themselves at the thought of guns. I wouldn’t be surprised if they did do such a ban at some point. But it’s not happened yet.
The Brady Campaign To Prevent Gun Ownership has finally admitted what we knew all along: they really do want to go after law abiding gun owners. That’s rather odd since they’ve been telling folks for years that’s not the case. But now, it’s a category on their blog, right next to dancing in the blood of dead children.
Good:
A federal judge decided Tuesday that Jim?s Gun Jobbery of Fayetteville and the Jim?s store in Wilmington can keep their licenses to sell firearms.
Jim?s Gun Jobbery in Fayetteville and Jim?s Pawn & Gun in Wilmington sometimes violated regulations requiring dealers to closely track their inventory, U.S. District Judge Malcolm J. Howard said in his ruling. But he decided the violations were unintentional and made up only a tiny percentage of the stores? sales since Jim Faircloth went into business in 1977.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms has been trying since 2005 to revoke the licenses of Jim?s, said to be the largest gun dealer in North Carolina. The ATF said the stores repeatedly lost track of guns in their inventory over an eight-year period and had not resolved the problem despite repeated warnings.
Good for the judge. This has been a pattern with ATF for a bit, shutting down dealers for clerical errors that comprised a minuscule percentage of transactions. Meanwhile, ATF can’t keep track of it’s own guns.
Interesting concept here:
The Palm Pistol is an ergonomically innovative single shot double action only defensive firearm chambered in 9mm that may be fired using either hand without regard to orientation of the stock. Suited for home defense, concealed carry or as a backup gun. It is also ideal for seniors, disabled or others who may have limited strength or manual dexterity. Using the thumb instead of the index finger for firing, it significantly reduces muzzle drift, one of the principle causes of inaccurate targeting. Point and shoot couldn?t be easier.
I seem to recall reading that palm pistols were pretty common at one point many decades ago.
Via David.
Defense Review has a piece on the rifle with lots of pics:
PTTR’s Manifold Injector System (MIS) (TM), which is located in the bolt carrier. Upon firing, gas flows through the tube inside the op-rod, and is expelled through the MIS. Para claims that this makes the PTTR “the cleanest running autoloading rifle in the world.” This is a rather bold claim, considering the plethora of gas piston/op-rod-driven tactical AR carbine systems a.k.a. tactical AR-15 carbine systems on the market.
I, for one, miss seeing Terrance & Phillip up at the top, there.

And if we are such lousy lawyers, how did we manage to beat the city’s militia of lawyers, including three of the biggest of the “megafirms” in town?

If the city doesn’t want to pay civil rights lawyers’ fees, it should obey the Constitution. Freedom isn’t free.
Yowza!
Michael Silence asks Any reason to keep a phone line at home?
Ya know, I still have one. Initially, it was for two reasons. We have a fax machine and a fancy alarm system. Now, the fax machine can be replaced with a wide variety of software or online services. The one we can’t seem to find an online replacement for is the alarm system. It communicates with our service, police, and fire all through the land line. Were it not for that, I would not have a home phone. That’s $70 month could be spent on ammo!
Obama and McCain talk guns and conservation.
Obama seems to be taking the Rudy Giuliani approach to guns. That is, he was all for gun control but has since changed his mind. And, like Rudy, he’s using the right terms. The question becomes whether it’s out of expediency and a desire to get votes or if it’s genuine. If he had signed on to the congressional Heller brief, it may have lent him some credibility that he really did find his pro-gun Jesus. He also displays his ignorance about firearms while stating his support for a ban on weapons that look like assault weapons. He’s either 1) confused that they do mean machine guns or 2) shilling all the propaganda he learned while on the board of directors at the anti-gun Joyce Foundation.
McCain unequivocally says he does not support a ban on weapons that look like assault weapons nor does he support a ban on regular capacity magazines.

Mike tells his anti-gun dad that he owns guns. Plan B should include taking dad to the range.
House passes bill to ease DC’s gun laws:
The pro-gun majority in the House moved Wednesday to compel the nation’s capital to broaden the rights of its residents to buy and own firearms, including semiautomatic weapons.
Critics, led by the District of Columbia’s sole delegate to Congress, decried the action. They said the vote tramples on the District’s rights to govern itself and could endanger both residents and political dignitaries who so often travel across the city.
But the National Rifle Association-backed bill passed easily, 266-152, with supporters saying they were determined to give D.C. residents the same Second Amendment right of self-defense that has been available to other Americans.
Interestingly, this was a Democrat led bill. No doubt, Obama is bad for their blue dog credentials so they have to do something.
update: NRA presser here.
Couple more technical issues to work out.
That’s a bit of hyperbole. I’m using gun-ban-speak. But this was amusing:
The ATF lost 76 weapons and hundreds of laptops over five years, the Justice Department reported Wednesday, blaming carelessness and sloppy record-keeping.
Thirty-five of the missing handguns, rifles, Tasers and other weapons were stolen, as were 50 laptops, the internal audit found. Two of the stolen weapons were used in crimes.
The audit by Justice Department Inspector General Glenn A. Fine found “inadequate” oversight of weapons and laptops resulted in “significant rates of losses” at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
“It is especially troubling that that ATF’s rate of loss for weapons was nearly double that of the FBI and DEA, and that ATF did not even know whether most of its lost, stolen, or missing laptop computers contained sensitive or classified information,” he added.
Actually, it’s disturbing that they lose any. Some numbers:
It found that ATF lost three times more weapons each month than it had in a similar 2002 audit by the Treasury Department, which used to oversee the agency. It also lost 50 times as many laptops as reported in the earlier audit.
Of the 76 weapons, 35 were reported stolen, 19 lost and 12 missing from inventories, investigators found. Of the 418 missing laptops, 50 were stolen, 8 lost and 274 could not be found during inventory. Another 86 laptops were unaccounted for because ATF had either destroyed or lost documents showing where they were, the audit concluded.
Two weapons reported stolen were used to commit crimes. In one instance, a gun was stolen from an ATF car parked outside the agent’s home and later used to shoot through the window of another residence, the audit found. In the other, a stolen ATF gun was taken from a burglary suspect.
Additionally, ATF employees did not report 13 of the 76 lost weapons, or 365 of the 418 missing laptops, to internal affairs as required. ATF officials also did not report much of the lost equipment to the Justice Department.
ATF continues its record of stellar performance!!
Via an alert reader, who notes: Sullivan’s solution – revise reporting standards for lost weapons – instead of ya know, revising standards for not losing them in the first place
Update: Meanwhile, the delicious irony of noting that ATF has shut down dealers who have made clerical errors with a smaller margin of error than ATF.
After lying and telling everyone that H.R. 6691 (bill in congress to regulate DC’s gun laws for them) would allow people to carry loaded assault weapons on city streets. Teenagers and children would be allowed to carry assault and sniper rifles, as the bill repeals all age restrictions on the possession of long guns, the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Ownership breaks out some pure, enrichment grade deception:
New NRA Gun Bill Shows Gun Lobby Deception
Funny, the NRA hasn’t lied about what the bill does but Brady has.
Just hours after a Brady Center report highlighted the NRA’s repeated and false denials that its bill to gut DC’s gun laws would allow assault rifles on the streets of Washington, the gun lobby has revised the bill to prevent the carrying of assault weapons on DC’s streets.
The bill never allowed the carrying of assault weapons on DC’s streets. They really are desperate.
If you’re from a certain geographical region, you’re a racist.
Who’s the bigot again?
Anyone who is surprised by this has obviously never dealt with the Internal Revenue Service:
The IRS has acknowledged that Jamey and Lora Costner of Newport are victims of identity theft and Congress has called on them to testify. Nevertheless, this young couple are being harassed yet again by the IRS for back taxes on income they never earned at a place they never worked (Koch Foods). This time, the feds have already taken $467 from Lora Costner’s $401K fund to pay the debt they don’t owe.
The monkeys push the buttons. It doesn’t matter if you have a valid concern, legitimate reason or other issue. IRS collects. The monkey just pushes the buttons.
The Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate for Governor of Delaware, who’s a dyed in the wool gun hater, has a blog that allows comments. Be polite. Be concise, but let?s put some pressure on. Let him know gun owners are watching.
DC council has approved new gun laws to comply with Heller. It’s quite obviously an attempt at preventing congress from stepping in. Congress needs to intervene on this one.
Remember that crazy idiot named Fatimah Ali who said that if Obama lost there would be race wars? Well, her dumb ass is back. Criminals dressed as cops have been known to raid houses. Now, fake cops pull a person over and rob them.
Seems Sarah Brady is a bit spooked by Sarah Palin:
Dear Chuck,
Sarah Palin makes me nervous. The NRA gave her its highest rating during her run for Governor. In a candidate questionnaire for Governor, she equated gun control as being as much of a threat to families as drugs and gangs!
With the Republican nomination of lifetime NRA member Sarah Palin for Vice President, the NRA has just what it’s looking for to keep its White House office open.
Looks like their fears are compounded by the fact that Sarah Palin may drive more women into the shooting sports: Is Sarah Palin’s Gun Hobby Catching on with Rhode Island Women?
Well, I hope so.
Every day, I wake up. Every day, categories disappear.
Braisted: Well, Al Gore, meet John McCain, inventor of telecommunications and the blackberry.
The difference being that no one claimed McCain invented the blackberry. Gore did claim he ‘took the initiative in creating the Internet’. Which is only debunked if you somehow think inventing it and taking the initiative to create it are substantially different. Or you don’t know what the fuck debunked means.
David E. Young, in comments:
The problem for controllers is that they cannot see the forest for all the trees (the militia for all the armed citizens).
Indeed.
So, as mentioned before, the American Hunters And Shooters Association has endorsed Obama (no surprise since that is what it was set up to do). So, AHSA shill Ray Schoenke takes to the radio to tell everyone why hunters and shooters (who those crazy AHSA directors like to call whackos and extremists) should not fear Obama. So, why does he talk about taxes and not guns:
“It’s important to me that our next President protects our Second Amendment rights to own guns and defend ourselves,” says Schoenke. “Barack Obama and John McCain will both make sure we can keep our guns. But what about keeping our jobs? Barack’s got a real plan that invests in creating jobs here at home and cuts taxes a thousand bucks for working families. John McCain? I saw a lot of cheap shots in my day, but McCain’s false attacks on Obama are just a fake to hide the ball. His plan sells out American workers. McCain will keep giving tax breaks to companies that ship our jobs overseas. And he’ll look the other way while China breaks our trade deals. It’s the same old Bush playbook. Look, when the coach loses eight years in a row, you don’t bring him back for a ninth season! We just can’t afford more of the same.”
And here I thought they’d have a rousing discussion on their favorite shotgun loads.
Being one of the few rich and special people to get carry permits in NYC has it’s privileges.
Update: Great minds and all that.
Update 2: And $0.50 is a felon. He can’t even lawfully handle those guns.
So, Barack Grrrl power! Obama likes to yammer on about equal pay. Too bad he pays his female staffers less. McCain actually pays women more.
Maybe it’s merit?

I shit you not. Granted, he bounced a large number of them and engaged in fraud. But that’s not a tactical-Tommy crime. No ninja gear required.
In the local paper, a local says, well, I’m not sure what her point is as it’s not spelled out very clearly. There are about six paragraphs of peace, love, and dope. And the rest seems to just be spewing random anti-gun tidbits that are poorly understood. So, I’ll try to address the points I think she’s trying to make. But the title is Sandra Rini says we should rethink term “Militia” , so we’ll go with that.Says Sandra, after quoting the second amendment:
This outdated provision from a Congress that never envisioned the modern military we have today is more fiercely protected than any other amendment in the Bill of Rights. America has more guns in the hands of private citizens than any other nation; an estimated 300 million. And the National Rifle Association boasts that we add 4.5 million annually.
I know. Those darn outdated provisions. We don’t really need a third amendment either, since it never comes up. And those dumb founders never envisioned that there would be advances is technology. That was just crazy talk back then. So, we should limit your right to speak only to pen, paper and a printing press since they didn’t imagine that Al Gore would give us the Internets. And all the amendments seem to be under attack these days (except maybe the third, which we’re not using so it should be repealed too).
And there is, of course, Sandra’s inability to read. After all, it’s pretty clear from the amendment that the the right to bear arms is not tied to militia service. You can get a grammar lesson here. And the fact that the supreme Court recently ruled exactly that. She goes on:
If another country invades the U.S. or our own government turns on its citizens (the things a Militia was intended to guard against), those 300 million guns may as well squirt water for all the impact they’ll have against such an attack.
The militia was intended to do that. And to quell rebellions. And to, if necessary, be a police force. Regarding guns not impacting an invading force, has she heard of a country called Iraq?
Six paragraphs of peace, love and dope omitted because you got better things to do.
And:
America’s first Congress ensured the future of the militia in the Bill of Rights with the Second Amendment.
Two centuries later, our well-regulated militia is called the National Guard, and the states provide the arms.
Sandra should maybe try doing a bit of research. She’d then realize that the militia is comprised of:
(a) The militia of the United States consists of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided in section 313 of title 32, under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States and of female citizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard.
(b) The classes of the militia are—
(1) the organized militia, which consists of the National Guard and the Naval Militia; and
(2) the unorganized militia, which consists of the members of the militia who are not members of the National Guard or the Naval Militia.
No need to rethink militia since it’s pretty clearly defined in USC. But we can’t have facts getting in the way of all that peace and love. And:
The security of the states is debatable; the safety of its citizens a fading memory.
Why is it you seem to think citizen safety negatively correlates to my right to keep and bear arms? Particularly, when there’s no such indication supported by, well, anything credible.
Sadly, we’re in the midst of a gun epidemic that kills 30,000 Americans every year.
Her number is, of course, misleading. More than half are suicides.
And the Second Amendment lives on.
And as long as I breathe, it will.
ISLAMIC law has been officially adopted in Britain, with sharia courts given powers to rule on Muslim civil cases.
The government has quietly sanctioned the powers for sharia judges to rule on cases ranging from divorce and financial disputes to those involving domestic violence.
Rulings issued by a network of five sharia courts are enforceable with the full power of the judicial system, through the county courts or High Court.
You have got to be fucking kidding me.
The American Hunters and Shooters Association has endorsed Barack Obama.
Of course they did. That’s what they were created for.
Some say the party is over:
Breaking up is so hard to do. Judging from the Democratic Party platform, remarks from presidential nominee Barack Obama and his selection of anti-gun Sen. Joseph Biden as a running mate, the long, transparent courtship of gun owners by Democrats is over and instead of a goodbye kiss, there was a slap in the face; the political approximation of a domestic assault.
I dunno. I think it’s more a regional issue. Time will tell.
Guy doesn’t break the law and will not be charged. Guns not returned.

Update: Better?
The Brady Campaign can’t win when the truth is told. So, they lie:
Among other things, it would allow people to carry loaded assault weapons on city streets. Teenagers and children would be allowed to carry assault and sniper rifles, as the bill repeals all age restrictions on the possession of long guns.
And that, of course, is total crap.
Update: From Kaveman: Go to the BC homepage and click the “capitol under fire” image and look at the top of page #5:
Under H.R. 6691, it would even be legal for some terrorists to carry .50 caliber sniper rifles and military-style assault rifles.
Wow!
The council proposal does not give residents blanket approval to own semiautomatic pistols, which have become the most popular kinds of handguns. It would ban magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds. It also would repeal a regulation barring a gun owner from registering more than one pistol. In addition, the legislation would do away with the requirement that handgun registrants submit their weapons to D.C. police for ballistics testing.
It will also get rid of the storing weapons disassembled requirement. A start but not good enough. And Chris Cox says:
D.C. has lost all credibility in dealing with this issue

I get an email forwarded to me telling my to forward it to everyone I know. And I did that. No, I kid. The email says go to a bunch of websites and complain about how the local big oil conglomerate is shafting us all by gouging us. I respond back that, perhaps, the originator of the email should take an Economics 101 class. Or maybe read Rich Hailey.
BTW, this comment left there is presented without, err, comment:
I wonder how much oil companies pay a year to bloggers in order to have them make all kinds of excuses for price gouging. When Obama becomes President, the oil companies will no longer get these windfall profits because Obama will return that money to the hard working consumer. Gas will return to being a 1.25 a gallon because the oil companies won’t have an oil crony chimp in the White House who, when he isn’t having people tortured and carpet bombing civilians for fun, spends all hia time keeping his oil buddies rich.
Speaking of Joe, I don’t know that I’ve ever mentioned he created Modern Ballistics, the world’s most sophisticated small arms exterior ballistics program for the personal computer.
Tennessean has a bit on the Rosalind Kurita incident:
Tennessee Democratic Party leaders voided a bitterly contested Senate primary result on Saturday, a move likely to result in the ouster of the Senate’s second-most-powerful member, Sen. Rosalind Kurita, and a hard-fought victory for her opponent.
The party executive committee voted 33-11 to declare the Senate District 22 primary “incurably uncertain” and referred the election outcome to county party executives to decide. The result of that vote is also uncertain, but many predicted that county officials would declare Clarksville attorney Tim Barnes the winner.
A write in Kurita campaign as kicked off.
During the 2000 election, there was a saying kicked around: Only Democrats and dictators fear elections. In TN, seems to be the case.
Somehow, categories disappeared completely from wordpress last night. That, and the fact my blogroll has disappeared have created site issues to be resolved. So, hopefully I’ve given you enough to keep you busy while I get that fixed.
Update: All better now. Not Robb’s fault. Turns out, a particular bug in wordpress was the culprit. Upgrading to the latest fixed it.

FBI has a publication called Sniper Tactics and Effects on the US Homeland 2007. It says:
Showing a keen interest in marksmanship, obtaining sniper-related books and other training materials, spending time at shooting ranges, modifying vehicles in a nontraditional manner, and purchasing rifles and associated optics may be indicators of potential terrorist planning efforts; however, most of these indicators can be associated with legitimate purposes. The difficulty lies in determining when individuals or groups are engaged in these types of activities in support of terrorist attack planning.

Thanks to Robb for the site redesign! And use him for all your gun blogging template needs.
And if you notice anything quirky, lemme know.
Update: Still working some bugs out.
Been out. Not reading the internets. Checked the bloglines account with over 600 unread. Said screw it and marked it all read.

But if the blog accounts are true, both Sarah Palin and Charlie Gibson entered and only Palin left.
Caleb is soliciting topics for his radio show on guns. I suggest GLOCK v. 1911; AR-15 v. AK-47; and whether or not the 5.56NATO round is a potent manstopper.
What could possibly go wrong?
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
