Conversations in a gun nut household

I clear the ParaUSA gun blog 45 and hand it to The Mrs. And the following conversation takes place:

Me: Can you pull the trigger on this?

The Mrs: (points in safe direction and pulls trigger) Yes I can. Why?

Me: Just making sure. You couldn’t pull the trigger on my Sigs. That’s why I now have Glocks.

The Mrs: What?

Me: Well, we went to the range and you couldn’t pull the double action trigger on my Sigs so I sold them and replaced them with Glocks.

The Mrs: That’s so sweet.

It’s the little things.

Greater love hath no gun nut than to lay down his Sigs for his better half.

  2. Ahab Says:

What’s the DA trigger on a sig like?

  3. SayUncle Says:

    about 11 pounds.

  4. Dad Says:

Send her to the gym keep the Sigs.

  5. Bitter Says:

    That is sweet. šŸ™‚

    1911 triggers are even lighter ; ]

Just wanted to give the pot a quick stir!

IIRC, you got a good deal on one of them.

  8. Dad Says:

    Oh, Okay…(got anymore?)

I don’t like the cleaning protocol on Glocks. Have a friend who almost couldn’t count past nine because of it.

Yes, absolutely Glocks do NOT force (or even really encourage) you to do something unsafe, but they allow it.

Which is why I have 2 XDs that require you to lock the slide back before you pull the trigger as part of the takedown.

But the ever-indulgent wife doesn’t like the XDs*. She likes the G26. So she has a G26 and I, of course, clean it for her. With just a touch extra paranoia.

*Actually, she kind of likes the .45 but it’s the 5″ Tactical so it’s a bit big and heavy for her tiny hands. One of these days I’ll probably be cleaning a Kimber compact of some flavor for her.

No, no, no…Guns are like real estate. You only buy, you never sell…

  11. Breda Says:

Sweet (and I’m always in favor of buying more guns) – but I don’t get it. Why can’t she pull the trigger?

  12. SayUncle Says:

heavy double action pull. she struggled to remotely keep it on target when pulling a long double action.

  13. Weer'd Beard Says:

My wife used to be like that…but she found out she loved wheel guns…now her hands are MUCH stronger.

  14. Duane Says:

It wasn’t the trigger on my .44 Desert Eagle, it was the 5# of steel out at arms length. So I let her shoot the Smith 422.

  15. Breda Says:

Well, she clearly needs more range time, Unc. You must be slacking in your husbandly duties.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
