Maybe this isn’t the right post to ask this question, but it fits in with the linked to post.

My 82 year old father is looking for a pocket gun. He lacks the wrist and hand strength to chamber a round in a semi easily.
Doesn’t like a hammer because it snags
Finds that Most affordable hammerless derringers don’t have trigger guards and depend on high trigger pull.
He’s gone through several guns recently looking for one that he’s happy with.

Any suggestions on an affordable pocket gun?

I posted an update–per Matt Carmel, the pistol redefinition effort is from ‘05 and has not been approved yet and may not be– but regardless, does not affect the Palm Pistol. Per ATF’s letter in ‘08, they implied it could, which is why I expressed my concern.

I don’t like the single shot nature of the weapon.
Even the old palm pistols were multi-shot even if they were somewhat underpowered http://www.hellinahandbasket.net/2007/01/my_fist_goes_bang.htm goes to an older post where the round design is discussed a bit more.

I agree with Wes, except to note that the new palm gun can also be used as a doggie chew toy (at least until it fires its one cartridge).

How about if this design incorporated “Metal Storm” multiple caseless cartridges in easily reloaded “barrels” so the design became more than a single shot?

Then it could be a “walking stick” design with, say, 30 shots in its tube, or a design shaped more like a hammer with 10 rounds or so….

Just thinking out loud on this here comment…..

The accompanying article notes that the new single-shot 9mm palm pistol will retail for around $300…in other words, about the same as a used five-shot S&W J-frame .38 or a new seven-shot Ruger LCP .380. (Or a Kel-Tec .380 and a box of shells.)
