1st Obama says its the neighborly thing to do, then Biden says the church says you should pay more taxes to help the poor.

I was taught in my church that we should voluntarily do those things either through our churches or by the community banding together (remember barn raisings?). Not through the government. And no where in the Bible or in any church teaching I've ever heard does it say giving should be manditory and (if necessary) taken by force (by the IRS). I believe those of us that go to church and tithe and give to charity would give more if taxed less (but thats just me).

You KNOW what happens in the Media if Sarah mentions any of her church doctrine: Death by Editorial Lighthning hurled by the Elites On-High - they're a bunch of cheap-ass cherrypickers and sandbaggers.

I believe it's also Catholic doctrine that acts that are compelled have no moral value. So while giving money to the poor because you have a strong sense of charity is good, giving money to the poor because a federal agent is waving a gun at you is morally neutral.

Ah, see the mistake is in thinking that Biden or Catholic social doctrine is talking about using their own money. An examination reveals that the help is much more soul satisfying if you use OPM. Thus, Biden through taxes and the churches (not just catholic) via charity drives seeks to gain control of other peoples money rather than dilute any wealth they have amassed.

The difference is that churches provide you the opportunity to give with a threat of an amorphously-defined hell in the afterlife, while Biden is giving you an obligation to pay up with the very real and well-known threat of hell on earth of an IRS audit. Church doctrine offers eternity in paradise for supporting good works whereas Bide only offers more taxes and abusive enforcement.

We are always hearing politician talk about how the GOP is pushing their religious views on people in regards to issues like abortion and gay marriage?Well why do Democrats try and push their religious beliefs of helping the poor on everyone. Why can?t I be ?unchristian? by not paying for Medicaid, food stamps, public housing, etc?

I get so sick and tired of hearing about Bush?s tax cut for the rich. I am lower to middle, middle class, and I got a tax cut.

If you listen to Biden and Obama you would think that ONLY rich people got a tax cut. If that is so then why is Obama talking about letting the tax cuts stay in place for those making less than $250K. If the tax cuts were only for ?the rich? then what is there for you to leave in place for those making under $250K a year?

He has already nearly been excomunicated from the church for lying about Catholic doctrine on abortion. I guess that wasn't enough for him.
