Manish: the replies I read (at least the first 200, and 40 or so of the last of them as of yesterday) were NOT mostly of the “you’re an idiot” variety.

There were indeed a fair number of objections, some pointing out trenchantly that e.g. the author had scrubbed the date of one of the pictures of the daughter (so that her supposed pregnancy extended from 2006 to 2008 … I guess the nights aren’t the only long things up there), but most were in favor, tried to explain away various objections to it, etc.

And the bigger problem here is that a lot of others outside of that one diary entry jumped onto this, continue to elaborate on this wild speculation, and keep pushing it.

The whole thing really is a window into a number of dark souls.

so one diarist on daily kos writes an incredibly stupid diary that elicits 2000 comments most of which said to the effect of “your an idiot” and this somehow is a reflection of the left or even just the “far-left”

My BFF lives in Alaska and he endorses my generalization. BTW – not a ‘leftlib’ and I hail from the occupied Valley of Death. I just think it’s somewhat ironic that a rumor was started about her daughter being pregnant over a year ago – which is malicious and untrue – but then the truth comes out that her daughter CURRENTLY is pregnant.

The teenage pregnancy rate is lower than average in Alaska, the birthrate is higher than average, and the abortion rate is lower than average.

I agree that the apology is in order , however the pulling the post is simple leftist tactics . Besides, if you want to exhibit your holier-than-thou attitude … why don’t you get even more angry at Obama, Michelle, and their children, for spending 20 years in an anti-American racist church, as well as associations with Farrakhan, Wright, Ayers, Rezko, etc.. These facts are much more relevant to the next administration, than the possibility of a loving mother taking the heat to protect her child and grandchild.
