In a stroke of political brilliance, he outflanked HRC with the Democrats' left and blacks, painting her as a war-monger (promising Iraq withdrawal timelines, etc.). He has, of course, subsequently proceded to do an about face on key components of his primary platform (e.g. now he is for offshore oil drilling, but only if it's done safely).
