They were manufactured in India. The buttplate is convex with the apex running vertically. The recoil is then focused on an area a little larger than a pencil, which is reduced further by the width of the bone in the shooter. Hurts like Hell. If flat or slightly concave it would distribute the force much more evenly. Really bad buttplate design, but a really nice rifle otherwise.
