That's a pretty easy comparison, as every city in the nation except DC has less stringent gun control laws than Chicago, and only NYC comes close.

Well, the "rest of the state" is predominantly populated with corn and soy, and until Monsanto manages to genetically engineer these with opposable thumbs, it's highly unlikely that they'll shoot anyone...

Anyway, the proper comparison isn't "the state" or "the nation," but to other, similarly sized cities, preferably ones with less stringent gun control laws. Houston used to be a good analog, although I'm not sure if it still is.

"State Police special agents have been assigned to the Chicago Police Anti-Gun Enforcement Unit . . ."

Appropriately named police unit for Illinios. At least they're not trying to hide it.

Interesting that the Democratic candidate for Cook county State's Attorney has a limited understanding of the US Constitution and isn't shy about demonstrating his ignorance of recent Supreme Court decisions.

Nice that the host had her on the ropes over the gun laws and not only got her to say that no one should own a gun but also that she could sympathize if a woman is murdered for lack of being able to defend herself but she felt safer if no one had a gun. This from someone running for the office that enforces the criminal laws and is legal advisor to the county. Watch the last 3 minutes of the interview.

They're supposed to confiscate illegal gun holders, which basically means everyone with a gun.
seems that the gun ban hasn't helped them so far, doing more of what has already failed is usually not a great idea but that's the way people think
