I’ve always wanted a conversion kit for my 220. Guess I need to start saving my pennies.

I had it over at the neighbor’s place about a month ago, and he had his Buckmark. We were shooting at a paper plate with a big marker dot in the middle from 10 yards, and I was lucky to hit it three times per magazine. He handed me the Buckmark, and I pretty much wore the black dot out of the center of the paper plate with it, so it wasn’t just me.

It probably *was* you. But that just means you shoot a Buckmark better than you shoot a Mosquito. (“Not that there’s anything wrong with that!”)

Honestly, and in full disclosure, I’m not much of a rimfire shooter, and I haven’t heard of a single .22 Semi-auto (Pistol or rifle) that gets glowing reviews on reliability….so I bought a Smith and Wesson 617 10-shot revolver. Holds as much as the Rugers, sigs, walthers, and whatever (and won’t wear out my finger reloading it!) just as accurate as the price bracket I paid for, and will shoot ANYTHING I can feed into, from mini-mags to crusty ammo a friend pulled out of the back of his closest, and I don’t even have to clean it if I don’t want to (but I do).

I’m leaning toward adding the Red Dot sight to it, just to see if it’s the sights or just the pistol. I can always unload the whole thing if it doesn’t help, but if something doesn’t, I’ll not be the owner of a Mosquito much longer.

I have one, and it shoots fine. Never had trouble with it. The mags are pricey but that’s about it. Don’t need more than 2.

but $200, $225 would be doable…

But the advantage of these kits is I don’t need a NICS check and an 8 day waiting period to get a second .22 caliber pistol. I have a compatible gun so it is good value for me.

It wouldn’t be an issue of kit vs. Mosquito if were talking about 1911.

I’ve put ~3000 rds through mine in the last two weeks.

Is that serious?

I like mine a lot, although it needs cleaning every few hundred rounds. (I’ve been spoiled by my Glocks.)

In addition to being cheap fun, it is similar in shape and controls to the pistols new shooters are buying for self-defense.

I also have a Walther P22 that I bought for the same reasons, and I like the Mosquito a LOT better than the P22.

(Not sure if that shines.)

P.S. The Mosquito is finicky about blood type.

I have good results with the Federal in 550-rd Valu-Packs. A friend also loves his Mosquito, and reports good results with the Federal, and terrible results with the Remington Value Pack Golden Bullet.

I have yet to hear a shining review from anybody who’s put a serious round-count through one.
