we had an opencarry.org dinner here in NC a few weeks ago… and suprise, nothing happened…

unfortunately one of the ways that we gun owners are going to garner support for our side is to make the public more aware that we are normal people with normal lives and that we are harmless…

it might make people nervous at the start, but that will soon fade… we do not have the luxury of having millions of dollars of packing like the anti gun groups do, so we have to be a little more down to earth with our methods than using strings of billboards across a city (oh wait, those were donated)

Indeed. I need to find out how they got the word out about this one and get on that list/board/whatever.

Not that I’m any sort of open-carry activist, but I am a “mostly white man” so I would have fit right in.

The gun-rights events I’ve been to have been strikingly and disproportionately white. An event with a couple hundred people, the only blacks were invited politicians and their staff. I don’t think this is anyone’s fault–Our group is mostly internet based, and people join without their race being known.

Because the paper is based in Detroit, which is 83% black.
