As much as I would love to own one (I am a bargain shopper after all), magazine capacity renders it a naughty assault weapon under Jersey law (Sigh, I live 'There'). Funny, seeing as how the only practical way of assaulting someone w/ said rifle would be to beat them over the head w/ it like a club.

Oh well...there is always the Ruger Blackhawk in .30

The gun is a beautiful little thing but whoever came up with that cartridge was a complete and utter moron.

(See Uncle's .30-30 post above.)

Those M1 Carbines are fun to shoot but I would'nt rate them high on my list of combat weaps. My dad, who was a Paratrooper in WWII had one of the folding stock types when his unit (11th AB Division) was in New Guinea in the summer of 1944 and he ditched it for a Garand rifle as soon as he could after the first firefight with the Japs.
He said he could'nt hit anything more than 50 yards away and the rounds deflected in the brush. And since New Guinea is all jungle there was a lotta brush!
