My dad, who was a Paratrooper in WWII had one of the folding stock types when his unit (11th AB Division) was in New Guinea in the summer of 1944 and he ditched it for a Garand rifle as soon as he could after the first firefight with the Japs. He said he could'nt hit anything more than 50 yards away and the rounds deflected in the brush. And since New Guinea is all jungle there was a lotta brush!
