What if we separated the lower from The Thing That Goes Up(r)? That way we could carry them around and bludgeon rapists and carjackers with The Thing That Goes Up(r) if they attack us?

I forgot to add that if in the event that the armed citizen managed to hit the attacker by some stroke of luck, he would surely then be mistakenly killed by the police�who are excellent marksmen�as soon as they arrived on the scene (which of course, luckily, will be while the attack is still occurring). Clearly, no mere citizen could ever have acted as calmly and coolly as this law enforcement officer did. We're just a bunch of yahoos, after all.
