To this day, I can walk into a local DPRK gunshop and buy a half-dozen semi-auto handguns whose only safety is to keep your finger off the trigger.

Only if you make a half-dozen trips and space them out right. Don’t try buying two or more within a month of each other unless you look good in pinstripes.

Nah, no such law. BTW, Unc, I’m sorry for my harsh tone earlier. I love California, and I love my rights, and I’m bringing the fight to the enemy. It seems like we just get no help from the outside sometimes (present company excepted). Anyway, I’ll try not to get so steamed in the future.

Cali has no such law? Really? I thought they had to approved and that was one of the requirements to be approved.

I live in the DPRK, and my S&W SW9VE (Sigma, 9mm) has “CAUTION: Capable of firing with magazine removed” etched on the slide.

This semi-automatic firearm, bought by me, a citizen, last year, is fully capable of being fired with a round in the chamber and magazine removed. To this day, I can walk into a local DPRK gunshop and buy a half-dozen semi-auto handguns whose only safety is to keep your finger off the trigger.

So, as far as this “California sucks” mentality, you REMFs can move to greener pastures. I’ll stay here and fight on the front lines for our 2nd Amendment rights, which we’re regaining day by day, no thanks to you.

Retreat is not an option. Surrender is not an option. There are two options for the 2nd Amendment: lose California, or keep California. I’ll fight, while some here throw insults over the wall.

That’s probably why Kalifornia and Massachusetts require mag safties, to make the weaps unreliable. You’re armed but still defenseless.

When you pull the trigger, the gun must go bang. According to this simple rule, manual safeties render a firearm invalid for personal protection.

DA/SA with a manual decocker is the best compromise, as far as I’m concerned (Sig).

MA laws suck, but they’re not *quite* as terrible as you assumed. MA requires either a magazine disconnect or a ‘loaded chamber indicator’. The most common way the LCI is done is a small hole or notch on the back of the chamber that makes the cartridge rim visible through the ejection port.

Which is exactly why I removed the damned mag interlock from my Marlin Camp 45. Pretty straight forward to do; I suspect it would be on other guns also.

Yeah, I agree. I finally took my new Sig Mosquito to the range yesterday. It’s the only gun in the Sig line to have a magazine disconnect (why?). It also has a normal safety, besides the Sig standard decocker and firing pin safety (why?). Anyway, I brought a bunch of different kinds of ammo just to try them out (surprise surprise, CCI Mini-Mag was the only ammo that was 100% reliable, although Winchester Super-X High Velocity generally worked fine on all rounds except the first one in the magazine). Anyway, several times in dealing with misfires, misfeeds, FTE’s etc. from the crappy ammo, I would drop the mag and pull the trigger again, only to be frustrated because the mag safety stopped me. Oh well, now I know to only buy CCI for the Mosquito and that I can never rely on a gun with a mag safety.

Not required for the police in Cali, but handguns without a mag safety are officially “unsafe”. The trial lawyers will deal with this one.
