I’d like to thank Speaker Naifeh for crawling up on that cross and nailing himself to it for us

Jimmy Naifeh, D-Covington, and speaker of the Tennessee House of Representatives has killed gun bills in Tennessee for years. You can see some of that stuff here. In fact, one time he wanted to kill it so bad that he had to break the rules of the House to stop the bill.

Well, I guess he’s feeling all bad about it because now he’s gone and written a bit in the Tennessean to tell us all that he’s willing to sacrifice because he knows what’s best for us despite most of us and our elected representatives telling him otherwise. He starts off with the I’m a gun owner but . . . bullshit:

This year, the House of Representatives has been faced with a number of bills dealing with the topic of guns. As a gun owner myself and someone who supports the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, the issue of gun ownership is a personal one. While I have and will continue to defend Tennesseans’ right to bear arms, I also recognize that with that right comes the need for responsibility. That need for responsibility led me to cast my vote against these bills.

And he’s not anti-gun:

There are some who have said these votes were “anti-gun” votes, trying to paint me and those who support my efforts as anti-Second Amendment. That could not be further from the truth. In addition to owning 16 different firearms, a few weeks ago I became one of more than 190,000 to earn a concealed-weapons permit.

Yes, that mean ol’ gun lobby is painting you as anti-gun for, you know, being anti-gun. Good. And Bill Hobbs will probably post your private info on the Internet because you killed the bill making that illegal.

Naifeh then goes on to list what are basically anti-gun talking points about how these bills don’t make us safe. All that’s missing is a gratuitous for the children and it may as well have been written by Josh Sugarmann.

He ends with:

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again and will continue to say it: As long as I am speaker, we will never have to worry about our Second Amendment right being infringed upon.

And by infringed upon he means protected.

You can leave comments there if you wish.

Just wanted to point you toward another pro-Second Amendment blogger I know. His post here is very educational, I believe. You two might actually have a few views in common. Anyway, always glad to read your posts, Uncle. Very enlightening indeed.

Say No Naifeh wasn’t voting anti gun. He was voting anti self defense. If he doesn’t want to pass legislation that “recognizes a select few” then repeal the carry permt law to allow anyone who can legally own a firearm to carry it anywhere.

And to remove all doubt about Jimbo’s intelligence… for all you thieves out there… Jimbo admits in public that he has 16 firearms. And to give you a fair chance, he insured that his shiny new carry permit info would be kept public for you.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
