Oh please! The 1911 isn't even close!
JMB hisself eliminated the link and pin in his next design and used an external extractor. The SIG (and others) went further, changed the barrel lockup and eliminating the barrel bushing.

I love all my 1911s but don't delude myself that they are the most reliable guns I own. That honor is reserved for the SIG 220, 226 and both Glocks. None of which has needed a gunsmith since day one.
I wish I could say that for a couple of my 1911s which cost more than either SIG and a bunch more than the Glocks.
HK? Don't they make blenders?

Hey, Uncle! I was at the Crossroads of the West gun show in Costa Mesa, CA this weekend, and saw a *used* HK handgun (details unknown) for $1,169.

Then I saw about 20 used P220 Sigs with gentle holster wear for $529.

What makes the HK TWICE as reliable, TWICE as accurate, and TWICE as rugged as the Sig? What exactly makes an HK semiautomatic handgun DOUBLE the handgun that is the P220? I'm reminded of what Eddie Murphy said about his $7 Coke in Beverly Hills Cop.

A pistol designed by a government committee.

I sorta like the looks of the USP, but the 23 is just a monster.

And it's not four pounds, either...but it does have all the compactness of a cinder block.

Oh please - it's not the size that matters but how you use it. ;) At least it's chambered in the right caliber.
