Bleh. At that price, I may as well get a Trijicon (sp?) and call it even. Either way, considering I am not really concerned about hitting things hundreds of yards away (or even a hundred yards away, given ranges in my area), I think I will stick wtih my $30 POS.

like any new piece of gadgetry, this will fall in price as the months go on... hell the first Intel Core 2 Duos came out with a retail price well above $1200... now you can get em for $250... and thats in less than 2 years... i suspect that these will be available for under $500 in less than a year

$5 bills is a bit much when you can get <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=280156212088&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=018" rel="nofollow">this</a> for $40 - mounts included! :D Mailed to your home direct from Commie China! :D

Actually, i did buy one of those recently, more as an experiment than anything else. I've got a Tapco T6 stock on one of my SKS's, and it's got that gas tube handguard rail... I wanted to see if something mounted there could ever hold a zero. This was about the cheapest thing I could find. I will report on its workingness whenever I get around to testing it. :D

The cool thing about the Aimpoints is that as per the manufacturer's recommendation you leave them on the NVD setting. You never turn them off, so you never have to turn them on. They're like iron sights that way - just pick up the gun and shoot without fiddling with a power button. That's pretty darned appealing.

ColtCCO, that's still not worth it. I just picked up 16AA batteries for $7.

Let's say you go through one set a month, requiring 24 batteries a year for 8 years.

192 batteries over 8 years = 12 packs of 16. 12 x $7 = $84.

It's pretty sexy, has a built in killflash, and I like the new slick mount. Retail is more like $700. With an 8 year life, it'd save you quite a bit over the next 8 years on AA batteries compared to the EOThingy.

For $800, it better cook dinner and clean up afterwards.

Otherwise, that's just overpriced. At least for my needs.
