It turns out the database wouldn&#039;t give an exact match to a certain gun, but instead spit out thousands of &quot;possibles&quot; that were &quot;statistically probable&quot; matches.  Those would have to be examined by humans, one by one.  The man-hours of doing that task alone would eat up an entire police force.</description>
