The foul by TN at the end was beautiful. We’re watching and said that was smart being sarcastic. And, well, it was. That’s why Pearl will get a raise.

Actually, I was screaming at the TV for them to foul at that point. Why? Up three, you put a poor free-throw shooting team on the line. You take away the three-point shot and give them the opportunity for only two guaranteed points. Genius, absolute freakin’ genius.

Memphis played stupid basketball (which shouldn’t surprise me given their history), and they got outcoached (which shouldn’t surprise me in a Pearl-vs.-Calipari matchup). The Tigers rushed their shots, and basically played right into Tennessee’s defense. But even despite all that, the Tigers may still have won if knucklehead didn’t travel after getting an offensive rebound in the final minute. Credit to the vols, though, they took advantage and played good basketball.
But I actually think this win benefits the Tigers. It’s a well-timed dose of humble pie, it’s not a “bad” loss by any means, and it takes off all the “perfect season” pressure.
