Cactus Jack: M-N ammo is dirt cheap on the internet.

Just buy a bunch of 440 round tins for about $70 each, and hide them. Don’t worry about sporting good store inventories.

All of that old WWII 7.62x54R ammo is making its way into the US and selling cheap … no one else will buy it, other than American gun nuts.

My Go-to list is a Romanian SKS ($180) Mossberg 590 ($300….You can get a 500 used for $125 if you keep your eyes peeled) My only expensive go-to gun is my S&W 1911. There are a bunch of Star B’s hitting the market now, so that would be a neat and cheap choice.

That or the Markarovs.

The Mosin Naget 91 might be a good, solid rifle (I’ve never fired one) but it seems like the ammo for it, 7.62X54R, is’nt very commonly found. I’ve never seen any in the sporting goods stores here in Wyoming.

My “affordable” rifle is a Lee-Enfield MK-IV, which I picked up for $150 about 5 years ago. It’s a sweet shooter, rugged, and .303 British ammo is fairly easy to find and reasonably priced.

I more than agree about the Model 10. Actually all K-frame S&W’s are great handguns. If only they weren’t so “unconcealable”. I am not a fan of military rifles, especially Soviet bloc ones, if you’re not intending either long range trench warfare or a bayonet charge along with the rest of your regiment. As for the single-shot shotgun, you betcha. There’s no more bang for the buck possible.
