I explained precisely what happens at a gun show when someone wants to buy a gun (he was relieved there really isn't a gun show loophole, and that this applies to purchases nationwide), and when he told me that he believed himself to be a responsible, law-abiding citizen and that he didn't think he should ever carry a gun I told him just what is required to get a carry permit (he was relieved that it's more than just filling out a form). Today I'm going to give him a copy of Jeff Cooper's four rules of gun safety to give him a better idea of just how serious gun owners are about safety. I lived for years in Kalifornia surrounded by them and anytime someone disagreed with them on ANYTHING, and I disagreed with them on EVERYTHING, they were in your face confrontational about it.
