6.8 SPC is expensive if you don't reload, I'm still using that brass that we collected at GBR. Granted, during winter, I don't get to shoot much centerfire rifle.

Ben: Yeah, I thought the difference was much more noticeable on semi-auto, too. There's a obviously world of difference between 5.56 and 7.62 (.308) on auto, but 6.8 didn't "split the difference," it was closer to 5.56 than the half-way point between 5.56 and 7.62. At least it seemed that way the one time I tried it.

That's interesting, Murdoc. I've shot 5.56 right after 6.8 in an AR, and there's quite a bit of difference in semi-auto. With the 5.56, as everyone here knows, you can pretty much keep your sights on target while shooting. With the 6.8, you come off a bit, but recovery is quick enough.

I shot a bunch of 6.8 at an LWRC event at last year's SHOT Show. I made a point of shooting some 5.56 immediately after, and I must say that the difference on full auto seemed almost negligible. Not that I'm experienced enough to really be able to tell.

The 6.5 Grendel numbers look good though. Also, does anyone have any experience or opinion on the 6.5 Creedmoor from Hornady? I didn't know anything about it until I saw a DPMS rifle chambered for it.

6.8SPC is super cheap to reload. Just go drop $150 on a little single stage press kit and start a new hobby :)

I think it costs me, after I amortize the brass costs, about $6-$9 per 20 rounds to reload 6.8spc depending on which bullets I use. I'm currently using Hodgdon H322 with 110 grain Speer Pro Hunters. Shoots sub-inch groups all day even with my crappy single stage military AR trigger and a cheap 3-9x40 scope.

Now, if only the 6.8SPC prices were to come down, I might actually buy something in it...

I'm annoyed at how AA killed the grendel with their stupid intellectual property games. It was very short sighted of them.

So when are you gonna man up and get one? And don't be a wimp, start from scratch with an upper receiver and a barrel and screw them together yourself. I'll loan you the action block and barrel wrench.
