Still not getting it

The political power of the gun lobby was formidably displayed this month when a majority of the nation’s lawmakers — 55 Senators and 250 House members — signed on to a legal brief urging the Supreme Court to strike down the District of Columbia’s ban on handguns.
The gun lobby scored an even bigger coup when Vice President Dick Cheney signed the same brief — a remarkable move that put him at odds with the administration’s own position before the Supreme Court.
You see, it’s always the gun lobby. It’s never that, you know, these congresscritters are pro-gun or that they come from pro-gun constituencies. Or that most people are, generally, pro-gun. It’s always about the power of the gun lobby. It can never be otherwise lest the fragile little world views of the New York Times Editorial Board come crashing down.

“After years of resisting the newsroom cuts that have hit most of the industry, The New York Times will bow to growing financial strain and eliminate about 100 newsroom jobs this year, the executive editor said Thursday.”
They’re melting. Their Pravdaesque, one-way, from-the-top-down point of view is fading. People prefer media that’s responsive.
You will notice that at the bottom of the article there is no place for comments. I can’t tell them good riddance, which is disappointing for me, but also keeps them out of touch. Oh well, if they want to be deaf, they can be deaf, but I don’t think that’s going to help them survive.

Not to mention the fact that the “evil gun lobby” is made up of many gun rights organizations, not the least of which is the NRA with over 4 million members who happen to be US Citizens, and that around 20 Million Americans believe they are NRA members even if their membership is not quite up to date. Oh, and the fact that more Americans have a favorable view of the NRA than the Democrat Party, the Republican Party, Congress, or the News Media. Together we ARE the powerful Gun Lobby. Yes we are powerful, and we are the NRA. Get used to it. 🙂

My reply to your distress is that they are ‘projecting’.
They cannot truly understand ‘grassroots’ because they are a top-down organization and they have that mentality.
In their world-view, there is no ‘bottom-up’, there is no ‘common man opinion’. They only believe what the ‘educated, elite’ tell them. Or what they tell others.
So, to them, it is ‘unpossible’ that people could act on their own, or in their own best interest. They can’t conceive of that possibility.

Since they’re KoolAid-Collectivists they really only see things through that filter. Everything outsider their window is an organization, or lobby, or union, or group of victims – when they look out they do not see individuals — there are no individuals…
