Comments like the above are proof that this idiot dos’nt have a clue as to how gun owners are. Target shooting in a campground? Randomly shooting at a critter? I go camping and hiking a lot in National forests in Wyoming and Utah and I’ve never seen or heard of anything like what that idiot described having happened. As for other campers walking around with handguns strapped to their hips that’s pretty common and the only people who have a problem with it are, drumroll please, the tree hugger libs.

ROFL! If a animal like a Grizzly Bear can survive multiple hits from large calibre firearms and still charge the shooter, and there are numerous accounts of this happening, how does this fool think that fuckin PEPPER SRAY is gonna stop ‘ol Grizz? It may disorient them for a few seconds but that’s all. All pepper spray would do is piss the bear off more. Black Bears generally avoid people unless they’re starving, sick, or it’s a mama bear protecting her cub. Pepper spray would’nt help against Black Bears any more than against Grizzlies. I’m certain he’s never tried pepper spray on a bear because if he had he would’nt be around to write that lame ass article.

The parks are also populated by a particular type of homeless person who doesn’t have the ability to get along in the shelters of the cities. They are frequently armed (against the rules).

It’s easy to transport a pistol, shotgun or rifle in a national park. All you have to do is unload the weapon — that takes less than a minute — put it into a case and then stow it in the car trunk or some other secure place that isn’t easily accessible to the people in the vehicle.

If the senators think that all of that is a chore, they must really chafe when they’re in a city — where most of us have to do the exact same thing when taking a firearm from one place to another.

The man is either a liar or ignorant (which is not to rule out both). In Washington state (where he lives), any adult can carry a gun in the city without unloading it and without a permit (unconcealed). Transport in a car (sans permit) only requires the gun be unloaded and in a closed case; for a magazine fed gun unloaded means the magazine is not in the gun. No “not easily accessible” requirement.

Well, duh. I see someone hasn’t been paying much attention in Civics class: only D.C. could actually change the rules about national parks. As for parks in general, several places have changed the rules.
