People who expect Kel-Tec to sue Ruger don't seem to realize that the P32/P3AT design is a derivative of past designs itself and never appears to have been patented. (direct kel-tec clones have been on the market for years now)

Anyway, if Ruger can make a better "p3at", then all power to them. The MSRP looks to be the same, and they've made some obvious improvements (slide stop, grip ergonomics, etc). And if the LCP ends up being as durable as Ruger's other pistols, then they have beaten Kel-Tec at their own game.

I'm always concerned about the track record Kel-Tec has for a disproportionate number of small part failures after a couple hundred rounds. Sure their lifetime free support will fix it right up for you, but normal practice shouldn't "wear out" something that you may have to defend your life with.

Don't put down Ruger for copying a good design. Heck, Smith and Wesson is making 1911's and Remington is making AR's. Everybody and his dog copies to some extent. If we only bought originals, Gustav Mauser would be the only guy making bolt-action rifles.

I'm thinking they wanted to release a pistol that already had compatible holsters on the market. That's the biggest drawback of my P345. New gun, few holster options outside the generic one-size-fits-all variety.

It's an ounce heavier and half a smidgen bigger. And it lacks the "made in Chinese sweatshop" look of the Kel-Tecs.
