It is about discrediting any action by a private citizen that may cause others to think they have the right and the power to depend upon themselves for defense. A self-reliant people are much less malleable and are much more difficult to control. Control of people being the what the issue is really about. The media is carrying the government's water on this. As they have done for at least four decades now. A weak populace is much easier to take advantage of and therein lies the incentive of media to aid in the destruction of self-reliance in that populace. The reporting on this incident isn’t about accuracy or legalities.
