I’d bet the reporter had an attack of dyslexia and meant to say gunshot.

It was an AK, judging by the photo, but it wasn’t an assault rifle. They may correctly shout “AK” form the rooftops, or from the bottom of the gutter, but they cannot correctly shout “assault rifle”.

Not that it makes any difference (I doubt you’d concern yourself much with the technicalities of action type or firing mode while you’re being hit) but we like accuracy and the media folk love to scare people.

And their exageration certainly isn’t limited to guns. We can have a pleasant little snow flurry, and the newscaster tells us, “The northwest is being SLAMMED with a snowstorm tonight. Women and children hardest hit. Details at eleven”.

It’s what they do.

Makes you sorta wonder what kind of “assault rifle”. If it was an AK the media would have been shoutin it from the rooftops by now. Anyone know?

You know the media Uncle. They just HAVE to throw in “assault rifle” anytime there’s a shooting incident. I’m surprised they didnt say that Murray used a “AK-47″.
